Slow start
For me, this book was a slow start. I decided to keep reading because I like the author. The more I read, I couldn't stop reading. It was a good read that I couldn't wait to find out how it ended.

Great read
Some of the plot was predictable but I never saw the villain coming! I was in suspense right until the end. Also had a fair amount of “Don’t do that” moments.

Kept me guessing
I would highly recommend this book! No idea who the villain was until finally revealed. A lot of sick/disturbing characters but still enjoyed the story.

Lisa Jackson is better than this, disappointing, boring, unlikeable characters
I have read several of Lisa Jackson's books and have enjoyed the majority of them very much, but this one is awful. There are many components to the story: an old family house that is dilapidated and possibly haunted, murder, incest, questionable paternity, missing young women, weird family members, as well as teenage angst. The story did not really become interesting until I was more than half way through it, and I only stayed with it because I've enjoyed Ms. Jackson's books in the past. The biggest disappointment for me was Sarah, the main character. She was devoid of personality. I didn't like the way she dealt with her daughters, and I could not understand why Cliff would be attracted to her (although he was pretty dull himself). POSSIBLE SPOILER HERE: I thought holding back the truth regarding her oldest daughter's paternity from the father as well as the daughter was unforgivable, as Sarah's reasons were ridiculous in my opinion. When the daughter figures it out, Sarah just blurts out that, yes, she's right, and let's call the father right now and have him come over so I can tell him the truth??!! This is a man whom she supposedly loved and had genuine feelings for in the past; a man who was good to her and would do the right thing by her. However, she chooses not to tell him for seventeen years, and only because her daughter figures out the math? Ridiculous. This book didn't seem to know which direction to take, whether it be the haunted house/ghost angle, the missing girls/psycho relative angle, the incest angle, reuniting old lovers angle, young psychic girl angle, or teenage love/relationship angle. There were more angles, but I think you get my point. Disappointing, unlikeable characters (although I did enjoy Gracie and Xena).

Another good one by Jackson
This book goes back to 1924 at the Blue Peacock Manor where we find Angelique and her husband Max have disappeared. People think they were on the roof, arguing and both went over the side. But what really happened? Bodies were not recovered and now its 2014, Sarah and her daughters have moved into the house, a new beginning..but there are many ghosts in the old house.A strange story but one that gives us surprises and secrets you did not know were coming. Great read as always by Jackson.
