A good battery maintainer-easy to install
I purchased this to maintain the charge on an old 48 volt golf car (6x8 volt batteries) that is only rarely used for visitors. The batteries are only in fair condition and it was losing voltage between charges. It is very easy to install and should do the job nicely.I don't know who added the description "quick charger", but do not expect those results on a large battery pack in a golf car. This will not adequately replace a large battery charger, nor is it meant to have that kind of capacity at 1.15 amps per hour. A regular charger charges at 13-17 amps per hour and can take 8 or more hours to charge a golf car to capacity. Just don't expect this to replace a $300-$500 primary charger for this application. If you want a battery maintainer/conditioner to use between primary charges, this is a good choice.

Works great and great price!
This thing is amazing! I got the 48v maintainer and charger for a golf cart i bought and the guy said it needed new batteries that he had left them go dead. I took a gamble on this charger from reading the good reviews. It took about a week to get them back up to voltage but it works and i still use it to charge it. The batteries started out at 6v now stay at 9v i have six 8v batteries. The batteries had bad sulfacation now it broke it up and you can see the plates again. I don't know why they say a quick charger cause its not made that way its a slow charger but has to be so it doesn't cook the batteries. You can't beat the price. This saved me 900 bucks in batteries and does a great job at keeping them equalized.

Tops Up Golf Cart
Yamaha stock fast charger shuts down when 48v achieved (average of 6 batts). Restart does nothing. After fast charge I use save-a-batt to top-up charge. It trickles and maintains. Two more bars on carts charge meter in morning when I drove to courses. 4 stars as units cooling not well designed (guess they were more interested in weather resistance than air flow) as it gets warmer than ecpected. Overall works very well for my application.UPDATE: My case became actually hot (not warm) to the touch. That can not be good for reliability of a solid state device. I use mine ONLY in a clean garage, so weather resistance is not an issue. I simply removed the case and drilled 1/2" vent holes in the top and bottom (see photos above). It still generates the same amount of heat, but the case now becomes only slightly warm.

This thing will charge ANY 48V lead battery... even dead ones.
I have a 12V Save a Battery for my cars and I also purchase them for gifts as I am very confident in their claims. Don't let the plain yellow and black box fool you, this is a well designed and polished garage tool.I bought this 48V version to charge a dead 48V scooter battery pack. This pack was literally at 0V and nothing else would even recognize it as a battery. Now, the funny part:The diagrams on this chinese scooter were unclear and since the pack was registering 0V, I could not tell the polarity as compared to the Save A Battery. So, I took a chance and connected it based on some fuzzy logic. The battery was left for a few days as the LEDs went on and off and the charger brought the pack back from the dead. The next week, I attempted to use the scooter only to find out the breaker was constantly tripping as soon as the pack was connected. After much swearing and testing, I come to find out that the battery was charged in the opposite polarity and is now a -48V battery. Although I certainly don't recommend that anyone use a battery in this configuration, I saw the cells around to work as a +48V on the scooter. This Save a battery brought a zombie back to life. I'm sure it will help your situation.

Does not work on my 48 volt club car
Bought this for a charger/conditioner for a club car 48 volt (6 - 8 volt batteries inline) at my second home. Bought in April 29th for my return trip this week, June 13-22. Upon arriving I plugged in the unit to electrical outlet, connected the alligator clip cord to unit, and connected positive clip to first battery inline, positive terminal, and the negative clip to the last battery inline and the negative terminal. The status light and battery light do not light up. I followed all cables to verify this was in fact first/+ and last/- battery. No luck. There is no troubleshooting notes included. There is very little included in the way of instructions. Most of what I found was reading other reviews and questions posted by other users. Based on all the reviews I'm assuming I must have a bad unit. Unfortunately, Amazon says I cannot return item after June 7. That crappy return policy of amazons has bit me for the last time. This one hurt a bit. I will go back to purchasing items from stores like Home Depot who require their manufacturers to back up their merchandise and allow you to return items that are obviously not functioning. I had no opportunity to even test the unit until after June 7th. 39 day return policy seems strange?

Trojan says perfect is 54
has put back more into my batteries than my regular charger ... float voltage is now 53.7 ... Trojan says perfect is 54 ... so getting close ! regular charger stopped at 51 ... makes for a cart ready to go after sitting a few weeks ... perfect!update ... Cart has never ran so good .. for some reason the batteries seemed to drain when left alone a few days ... i never found out why , but i can say that now , i just leave this plugged in and batteries show full when i use the cart ... range and torque seems to be restored as well ... my big charger seems to stop at 51.4 volt and shut off ... this one maintains the voltage at 53.7 ... very satisfied so far ... it really seems to be helping ... if you don't use your cart every day , i suggest this product ...

Seems to do a good job. Very poor literature included, and a little misleading
I bought this to charge an ebike, and It seems to work fine. There is little in the form of instructions. I bought this because it looked to be capable of charging any 12-48v system, so I didn't mind shelling out the extra $40 since I could use it on my boat, car, etc. WRONG. if you buy the 48v charger, it will only charge 48v systems at the 1.15 amps. Just a wee bit misleading when you look at the chart on the product page...
