How do I remove the thumbturn side for painting my door

The outer circle is just a trim . at the underneath of the thumb turn there should be a little square cut out , at this point put a paint scraper flat against the door and use a flat bladed screwdriver to leaver off the trim cover . The idea of the paint scraper is to stop the screwdriver digging into and damaging the door
