Marine Remote Control Box 8M0059686 for Mercury top Mounted Outboard Engine Control

Do not buy this control unless you have good mechanical skills. Out of the package this control would not shift, stuck in neutral. I had it on the shelf past the return time. I disassembled the control to find that none of the internal parts had been debured. Or polished. After spending several hours filling and polishing , I got it to shift smoothly as it should. Poor quality and workmanship. Follow up! After the second time out the control completely failed. Would not shift at all. I trashed it and ordered an OEM Mercury control. It works great and has neutral safety lockout.

Brand new it feels like the metal is grinding even with the cables disconnected. I have tried everything to make it work but the shifter will jump the gears in full reverse and the throttle feels like you are rubbing 2 sharp metal edged full friction even when friction is backed off completely.Not worth the savings.

This remote control box gets some bad reviews but they are unfounded. I bought this after watching the install video from Pontoonstuff.com (toms toons). I knew what I was buying. Its perfect. Works really well on my recent restoration. I did of course have to buy Gen II control cables to go along with it. My only complaint is I followed the included instructions for connecting the cables to my 1999 Force 90hp 2 stroke. On my shakedown cruise I was quickly apparent that the shift was back to front. Backwards. Reverse is forward, forward is reverse. Again, no big deal, just moved the cable to the other lever but pay attention to your old setup and know if you need a pull or push and don't get it backwards like I did :-)

This item showed up, we have rental boats, needed one, bought two. Both of them out of the box did not work. One only goes forward, one only in reverse. Unlesss you depress the high idle, but that does not mean you have gears just revving. After taking one apart to find the initial issue or failure, every single screw, nut, etc inside was less than hand tight. If you buy it be prepared to rebuild it out of the box. On top of that, the gears were installed 180 off which is why no forward or reverse on the other. There’s no quality in this unit, plastic washers are broken, the plastic incident is flimsy as a grocery bag- save your hard earned American dollar and precious time, and buy another brand, this is a total rip off, trust me as a marina owner/operator.

Used part in boat twice when it completely failed leaving is stranded in the middle of the lake. Interval gears skipped and locked throttle and shift linkage out of position.Internal components do not have the quality and not built to the tolerance necessary for safe operation.Unfortunately, just outside of return dates and currently stuck with a $200 pile of metal and plastic. Do not purchase!

this has been my WORST experience with Amazon... I was 4 days late to return a defective $200+ part, and all I got was the run around ! I never even got to speak with a human that I could actually understand!I used to spend thousands thru Amazon... maybe they don't deserve my business anymore !

I ordered this controller and I received a box with 2- damaged controller’s, wires had been cut and loose parts inside the box. The backs of the controllers were missing as well as many other parts, the mechanisms themselves were loose and falling out of the control box. It appears as if I were sent a box of rejected controllers. Unbelievable poor quality!
