You will need time!
Shin of beef is a great cut for long slow cooking. I cooked this for 8 hours and it was tasty and tender.

Quite nice.
The packet I had was quite fatty, but cut off most of fat and diced, then put in slow cooker with veg and seasoning. After about 4-5 hours on low the meat was lovely and tender. Great hearty meal for family. Would buy again, as reasonable priced for 500g.

My favourite cut of beef for stews, casseroles, pot roasts, curries etc
Cheap, full of flavour, unctuous texture. Really adds a nice stickiness to a casserole, great depth of flavour. Long slow cooking will reward you with a lush deeply flavoured gravy, serve with a load of cabbage, and buttery leek and potato and parsnip mash. Or go oldskool and break out the suet for some dumplings. You're welcome.

It came grey
The meat came grey, and nasty looking. It didn't smell off, but I won't buy this again.

Good vale and tasty
Okay, there seems to be three slices most weeks and I cube them for a casserole. Some weeks very little to discard, but today I i removed 2 or three ounces of fat, however on weighing after there was still a pound of cubed meat, so all is good. Some of the fat i could also have left on, but removed it for health reasons. The fat and sinew i left melted into the gravy to make it taste lovely and rich. i did cook it for about four hours though, as is the norm for cheaper cuts.
