Razor sharp, but heavy. A good knife for the price.
Mine arrived sharp enough to shave hair off my arm so no problems there. The knife is heavier than ideal for chopping veggies but at this price point I'm considering that a non issue. The knife handle feels good in the hand and cuts nicely. I love the single bevel. This type of knife is made for shredding/julienne cuts, or making thin meat cutlets. Its great for that for the average home cook. If I were going to be using this in a restaurant I'd get something lighter and likely way more expensive.People complaining about it dulling need to understand that for this price point, that's going to happen. Learn how to use a wet stone, problem solved.

Sturdy and well made, but blade geometry is a little off
I am overall very pleased with the knife, particularly considering the low cost compared to 'professional' level cutlery. It's a very attractive knife, and seems really well made. All the seams between the metal and wood parts are very tight, and it feels very solid. The blade is rather thick for a vegetable knife (2.12 mm at the spine), which makes it somewhat heavy. It wasn't particularly sharp out of the box, but certainly usable. The primary angle on the blade is only about 7°, but the secondary angle is far too steep to be really sharp (although it will hold an edge very well). The real issue is that the back isn't actually flat, like a chisel. There's a slight bevel, presumably from the final polishing step (not a hollow grind urasuki, but more like a very slight back bevel). The bevel makes it impossible to remove the burr generated when sharpening without maintaining the back bevel. I suspect most people won't mind, but I expected to sharpen the knife the way I sharpen a chisel, and that's just not going to happen. Instead of diamond lapping plates, use water stones and let the 'belly' that develops in the stone take care of the burr removal.

After 18 months, still amazing
This has become my go to knife. I use it for nearly everything. It's proven itself durable and easy to care for. And, because of the single bevel, sharpening the edge is super simple.More than anything, the ergonomics are just fantastic. It's well weighted, and when held correctly, very comfortable. For most tasks, I hold the knife steady by firmly pinching the base of the spine with my thumb an index finger, while using the rest of my fingers and palm to grip the actual handle. This technique was taught to me by a Japanese chef who first introduced me to usuba style knives. This simple change in grip, along with this knife, have made me much more adept in my everyday slicing, chopping and hacking. So, the knife is durable, easy to sharpen and it's reasonably priced. It's nearly perfect. My one small complaint is the handle is a little too smooth. A little bit of texture would be appreciated. But even with that critique it's a five star knife.

Single Bevel … Different in a Good Way
I collect knives and own Many knives in various price points and styles. This particular knife is very well made with terrific balance and is a keeper. There is no reason why anyone needs to have several knives with the same general dimensions and characteristics. I usually use a Ceramic honing Rod on all my knives every time I use them for a quick few seconds. That way they are always razor sharp. This knife needs one side only to be tweaked. I like the single bevel and I think It will gradually become used more often. It’s nice to have choices for different types of foods. One good paring knife and one good Chinese style cleaver is really all you need. I consider this knife a special knife for rare occasions but I’m glad I have it in my collection.

Comfortable and a breeze to use
I just recently received this knife. I have only used it once so far but I am very pleased. Some of the knives that I have work great but I keep hitting my knuckles on the counter when using them. This knife looked like there would be more room by the handle so that it would no longer be a problem. Not only did it solve that problem but I was cutting some pretty big carrots which can be pretty hard to cut thru. This knife cut them so easily. It took a lot less time and was so much easier to use, I can see that this is going to be my new favorite knife. Thank you so much.
