Simple to assembly and use. Great coffee.
Philips makes a lot of different coffee machines some better than others and in terms of build quality the outer body of this particular coffee machine is all plastic. It is a good quality plastic but it does sound like one when the coffee machine is handled but to be honest it is a fairly good value for a coffee machine of this brand so a higher quality materials would probably mean a higher price as well.It is not a large machine and doesn't take up much room on the kitchen worktop and furthermore the water tank can be moved from its initial position behind the machine to its either side which makes it even more compact. It is very easy to use and it can prepare a variety of coffees including iced, for which there is a separate function. The 19 bar pump really stands out with the iced coffee because it comes out really creamy especially at the top layer. It can't do different sizes as well with the cup holder being adjustable to accommodate different size cups so to avoid splash back.Aside from the L'or Barista capsules the machine also works with the Nespresso capsules so this definitely helps with diversification. Not a bad machine, it recognizes the different size capsules and the double spout allows for having two expressos at the same time which is great when in the rush.

Terrific little coffee machine
This Philips L'Or Barista is the first capsule based system that we've owned at home. We've tried various filter type machines over the years but just get fed up with the hassle of making and cleaning so just reverted to decent quality instant coffee.Having used this machine for a few weeks now, it has been a game changer! The machine itself is relatively small so we found it easy to find a space on the kitchen worktop. A really good design feature is that you can change the positioning of the water container to suit the location of the machine. We have it positioned to the left of the machine. It was a little tricky to manoeuvre the holder into place but a little patience paid off.The machine is compatible with Nespresso capsules and frankly any other capsules that follow that design. There are a whole host of options on Amazon for capsules and that's where we have been buying ours. It is far more cost effective that buying smaller packs in the supermarket, where the choice is also a lot less.As well as the standard size of capsules, the machine also accepts the XXL capsules and automatically adjusts the 'brew' to reflect the type of capsule. The machine is very easy to use. Simply pop in a capsule, place a cup (or cups) on the platen and select your option from the buttons on top. There's a helpful sticker on the top to remind you of what your options are. You can choose hot or cold options, which is useful for us as the coffee tastes are very different in this household. You'll have your coffee in around a minute from the start of the process. My wife is the main coffee drinker and likes to start the day with a large strong coffee from an XXL capsule. Later in the day she'll have one or two more coffees using decaf smaller capsules. We have invested in a little capsule holder from Amazon that sits under the machine and keeps everything tidy and also looks good. This is an excellent machine that is easy to use, has good options, a wide range of coffee capsules that can be used and most importantly produces excellent coffee.

brews good coffee
Brews good coffee and I like that I can make two cups at once as it takes xxl capsules too. Fits any nespresso compatible capsules as well as L'Or.The interface is easy to use and is very intuitive even for someone who is not very good with these things. The main thing that I like is the easy to refill tank that could be placed not just at the back but you can move on the side too, thus it conforms to your available space.Aesthetically pleasing too. I has a minimalist yet elegant design that will match any environment you place it.

Having the 3 options to position the water tank that best suits you.
After a long search to find a coffee maker, I decided on this and I’m glad I did. The quality looks good and fits perfectly on my kitchen counter. I did contemplate on buying the one with the milk frother attached, but decided against it as I found a separate milk frother that works better.I also like that it has an intensity boost which can come in handy.

Not always sure how much liquid is going to come out
Compact, takes up little space and works well. I like a simple machine that's easy to work and produces great tasting coffee. All I have to do is press one button for a standard option. That said, the compartment that holds the pod is stiff and clunky to open and close. It makes a loud jarring sound each time it's operated. I'm used to Nespresso coffees but these L'or ones are just as good. It's great to be able to use both as I can get a better range. The water container is an ideal size. I can make multiple large coffees without having to refill it. I also like that I can use descaler in the water tank as I live in a hard water area.Liquid does accumulate in the used pod compartment and the drip tray. Where the latter is white it's easy to see and know when it needs cleaning. I did check to see if I could leave a pod there and reuse it later in the day. Yes I could. I just needed to press the appropriate button, which work it up. Press it again to cancel, then a third time to get my coffee. I also bought some normal size pods and I had to run the lungo option twice to get a decent size. I've also tried out the ice option and intensity boost. Both work well. Different size pods and different options produce different amounts of coffee and it's not always clear what size mug I need.
