Tac-Bar is the only ration designed to perfectly fit into this standardized ammo can five at a time. Additionally, our 4 layer Mylar vacuum pouches have a thickness of 110 microns, the strongest around. Shipping, storage, and deployment often damage food rations if they are not adequately protected, not a chance of that in our ammo can. Many prepper and tactical supplies are packaged in stackable ammo cans. Conforming to this system makes storage and deployment both practical and efficient. In a SHTF or extended tactical deployment scenario, food performance is paramount. There's lots to consider whether bugging in or out. Fact is, your body needs real food to perform at its peak and retain mental clarity. Tac-Bar has been engineered for a specific balance of calories, fats, carbohydrates, natural sugars, protein, vitamins, and minerals to keep you operating at your best. There is no other food that can compare with Tac-Bar’s daily recommended vitamin and mineral levels. Serious consideration to the physical size and weight of your provisions needs to be given. Tac-Bar is the highest calorie, vitamin & minerals combination per mass and volume around. There is no other ready to eat survival, emergency or tactical ration that contains real foods such as honey, oats or whey protein isolate. Tac Bar also requires no prep work, just snap off a piece and keep moving and stay alert. If you're using a vehicle to head to your bug-out location, just throw a Tac-Bar ammo can into it and you're set for a week for food (12,500cal) and water purification (50L). There is no silver bullet for survivalist food and no one wants to eat the same thing for extended periods. However, Tac-Bar has its place in any survivalists food plan. A free survival tin is now included, please visit the Tac-Bar website for more info on this and other great features of the Tac-Bar system.

A very good overall package
Bought to try out based on earlier reviews. Arrived promptly. Packaging is excellent, and the form factor is very handy - 5 2500 calorie bars, scored in thirds for a daily adult ration are vacuum sealed in thick Mylar and packaged in a plastic “ammo can.” Included water purification tablets are good, and the plastic could be used to hold and purify water. A tin of survival supplies packaged along with the bars contains a decent ferrocerium fire starter, some monfilament fishing line and a few weighted hooks and lures for panfish, a button compass, a cheap but functional plastic whistle, a stainless “emergency card” with bottle opener and sharpened edge that could open the rations if no knife was available, a light mylar emergency blanket, a tea candle, and a single-edged razor blade. While you can certainly purchase much higher quality survival kit items, all the items are functional. There is enough room in the tin to add a few additional items. I’d suggest waterproof matches & striker, tinder, plastic bag, aluminum foil, and a knife. A small coil of paracord can fit in the plastic ammo can to create a fairly complete kit.I opened one bar to test. The Mylar package is tough- you’ll need a sharp edge to open it. But it should be very waterproof and the vacuum sealing assures long shelf life. The dense golden bars are easily broken into thirds along the pre-scored lines, but the thirds are pretty crumbly when broken for eating. The texture is dry, so you’ll definitely want to have water available. The taste is really not bad. It’s very sweet as expected, with a faint vanilla/citrus flavor. I didn’t notice much coconut flavor. The “new formula” has less sugar, but this is still a very sugary concoction in order to pack calories in a small volume. Sort of like eating a very dense pastry crust with a little protein added. Faced with starvation, I’m sure it would be delicious, at least for the first few days. It is FAR superior to all other survival rations I’ve tried. It could be a life saver. I’d like to see more honey and oats and less sugar, even if the volume (and price) increased slightly. I’ll be adding a sealed container of honey to replace the bar I removed. Lasts forever, and would improve palatability of the bars.Overall, a very good execution of a handy kit you can keep in the truck, boat, camp, etc. and much more compact than most last-ditch alternatives. Stick to Mountain House freeze dried meals for backpacking.

Little spendy, very compact, great shelf life.
Very compact kit! Lots of uses for all items included. The only thing is that it's pricey, but that's because of the quality of the ration (I assume). I haven't tasted it yet, but it does expire in 2024. I did purchase this in 2019 so the 5-year shelf life is a-okay.Came with all parts in tact, and fully sealed. If and when I try one of the bars, I will update my review!***UPDATE***After having kept the whole kit in my car (which is in the sun 6-9 hours a day) since May 30th, the ration bars did not spoil due to the high temperatures. I took some on a backpacking trip, and they maintained their vacuum seal and tasted perfectly fine. The bar tastes like cookie dough with a little bit of orange zest, very good and not thirst inducing. That being said, it is quite rich and definitely something one would want to split up across the day.Happy with the quality. Will update when I try another bar, will keep the kit in my car.

best survival food kit out there
Omg the most complete bug out food kit on the market. it has 5 blocks of food that keep just like mres but are healthier and more compact. it has water purification and a survival kit. i added a 2 day pack of survival tabs just for some extra nutrition to extend to 7 days for 1 person and it fit inside so i cant be more happy. They actually improved the formula when i bought these. i will bring one with me when i go camping just to try it out.

Absolutely amazing.
As someone who's in the military, I am constantly looking for alternatives to the MREs we are given. These are just amazing. Smaller so I'm able to pack them better while on missions or going backpacking/camping. They taste good and are better for you compared to other things on the market. I have a get home bag i have some of these in; I really use these for everything.

This item is perfect for my Bug Out Bag
This item is perfect for my Bug Out Bag. Taste is good. Hope they start selling the bars by themselves. Worth the extra loot you pay over other bars, but by far the BEST!

If you ok with 61grams of sugar per serving, and a high cost perhaps this is for you.
The flavor is very sweet, like a pastry, but the texture is like pie crust. The cost is also quite high. The sugar content is far to high.
