Far too many people underestimate the power of OXYGEN when starting a fire. A fire needs 3 things: HEAT SOURCE, FUEL and OXYGEN. This collapsible metal bellows is simple but incredibly effective. This fireproof telescoping tool allows you to compress and focus the oxygen in your breath directly into the heart of your fire. You'll be amazed when you try it for yourself. Any tool that makes fire starting more effective in difficult weather conditions is worth it's weight in gold. Closed: 6". Open: 30"

Works wonderfully, but requires a touch of cleaning.
I love the compact size of this bellows and it's fantastic at it's purpose. The little case is super convenient too for keeping a firestarting kit all together.Just a note though for anyone interested: The first thing I did when I bought this was extend it and give it a light coat of mineral oil (foodsafe!). This helps protects the metal from any potential corrosion and also lubricates the action of extending and collapsing the bellows. What concerned me was the amount of dark grey residue that I lifted off the surface of the metal. These bellows are probably packaged immediately off the production line and are still a little dirty with machining residue/grease. I highly recommend that you give this device a decent cleaning with a grease-cutting detergent (like dawn dish soap) and follow that up with a light coat of food-safe oil before you go putting your mouth on it!

Every Camper or Hiker Should Have This
I spent almost my entire life not knowing about these small bellows. I finally bought one and tried it for the first time and......if you camp or hike or otherwise build your own fires outdoors, you need this. You may not think you need this, but you do.With a single breath, you can safely reignite coals. Or you can direct the fire to other branches/logs. It weighs nothing, and if you can find a smaller case (smaller than the one provided), it will take up practically no space, either. It's now a permanent part of my outdoor excursions. The only flaws to it are fragility and taste. This will bend if you sit on it or use it to push around logs. Also, don't put your lips directly on it, or you'll be tasting metal for the rest of the night. Instead, form a ring with your hand around the end, then press your lips to your hand (if your skin is clean) and blow.

Pocket Bellows WORK, Its Carry Tube Can Become a Full Fire Starting Kit
This little tool and the competitive item from Epiphany Outdoors are simply wonderful additions to an outdoorsman's fire starting kit. The difference between these are that the Jonhen extends longer - allows you to be at a bit longer distance from the flame - but the Epiphany has a larger diameter mouthpiece, suggesting a greater exit air velocity. In real use, opinions favor the Jonhen design in the fanning the flames while starting a campfire. Here's another thing I've found, and hope that Jonhen doesn't change - the Jonhen comes in a strong, larger tube which has space to add incendiary matches (and striker in a sleeve), fire starters (I do like Epiphany's longer "fire fuses"), and even a slice of fatwood, making the Jonhen offering able to be a full, easy to carry fire starting kit.

This blows
Let me start off by clarifying that I am not being critical of the Epiphany Pocket Bellows. Iโm sure it is a very fine tool as well. I was going to purchase that one actually, after first seeing it and handling but not utilizing it. Then I came across this little guy. What I prefer are two different aspects: first the size. The Jonhen is quite a bit longer and somewhat larger in diameter. This allows you to stay a little further from the flames naturally, but you pay the price in terms of the overall size of the package. Iโm willing to do so. Second was a very small detail but I liked it and thatโs the little knob on the end of the Jonhen. Much easier to extend. Especially when your hands are cold and wet.Like I say, I did not try using the Epiphany, and Iโm sure it is an excellent tool. Just prefer this guy. Only have tried it in my fireplace but itโs a demon. Got the fire rip roaring in a heartbeat. Very impressed. Such a simple idea brilliantly executed. Kudos to whoever thought of it. Would definitely buy another.Highly recommend. Thanks for reading

Sturdy tool
I chose this particular pocket bellows for the mouthpiece - similar price points seemed to have no or insufficient mouthpieces, which would not give a pleasant experience in actual use. I'm generally pleased with the construction. There's only so much you can do with telescoping tubes, but there's spot-welded rivets inside acting as the limit for collapse and extension which seem very secure. The mouthpiece is well-fit. But I was unhappy to see some burrs on the inner rim of the mouthpiece - nothing dramatic, and easily cleaned off, but nonetheless a bad place for metal burrs. It looked as if some of the mouthpiece's plating had been sheared off when it was pushed onto the steel tube. I'm pleased with the bellows overall but glad I checked it over before giving it as a gift.

Best simple purchase I've made in years.
I use this tube everyday to start the fire in my wood stove. It makes fire starting so easy. One rolled up piece of cardboard and I can get logs burning. The smallest coal can also get logs burning the next day. This allows you to blow air onto the small flame and it becomes a very hot flame fast. I previously purchased a different similar item and it was too short. This one is long enough to stay far enough away from the fire. No hassle with fire starting materials. I will never go without one of these things. Have one by the fireplace and one in the camping trailer.

GO GO Gadget Bellows!
Love it. Keep it on me at all times. Not so much for the fire bellows aspect but itโs an like a Go Go Gadget arm if you need to reach stuff or blow dust off of something (I work at a museum so it comes in handy at least everyday!). Iโve fallen into water with it and it has not tarnished or rusted. I also keep some double stick, some gorilla tape and some duct tape wrapped around it case I need it in a pinch. Only thing I wish it was magnetic at the tip. That would be a help is some aspects when retrieving nuts and bolts on the job.
