Great quality at a reasonable price, long lasting
Have been using this detergent for many years. Powder smells lemony, laundry does not get perfumed, just powerfully cleaned. Lasts for a long time, and when it's empty, you can reuse the bucket and lid.

Really good stuff and a real bargain
The lemon scent is not offensive and does not show up in the washed laundry. I only use about two tablespoons for a large load and everything gets clean, even grass stains on jean knees. Someone mentioned that it is dusty and this is true but there is no problem if you avoid pouring it from on high. I think this was a great bargain. So glad I tried it.

Great
I have gone through full buckets at two houses, one front load, one top load and no complaints. It gets things clean with the tiniest amount of product. It lasts a LONG time.It smells good but is just noticeable enough to feel good knowing detergent was here. It’s not overpowering. It doesn’t stick to clothes and I’ve had other dry detergents do that—come out stuck undissolved on clothes. I do add a tiny amount of water to the top load washer first before adding detergent then clothes but if I happen to forget and put the detergent on top of the dry clothes when loading, it’s still not been an issue. For the front load I put it directly in with the clothes when I load it so I don’t have to clean the dispenser.I recommend a dry goods dispenser to keep a reasonable amount by the washer and the rest of the bucket tucked away. I think mine was marketed for dog food but works great for this. Just don’t stir up the product when scooping to fill the container because it will become airborne and hurt your lungs. This is just if you try and dump a scoop from the air to the container on the ground while you hunch over it. The small amount you pour out for a load (seriously, less than a 1/4 cup is plenty) isn’t a problem.

Frugal Longlasting and Long Storing
This power detergent by Boardwalk does not contain enzymes that degrade quickly, meaning its effectiveness will last for a long time in storage. The plastic bucket is sturdy and will not decay as some liquid laundry detergent bottles will under hot or cold conditions like if you have your washer and dryer in the garage. With that said, the lack of enzymes means this detergent will not be as good as others with removing stains. Pretreating is recommended if you need to get food, grease, or human waste stains out of your clothing wash. This detergent has a fine but dense grain to it. I haven't noticed any problems with dissolving the powder in my water (which is regarded as hard) but I could see some people finding it beneficial to pre-dissolve in a cup of warm water before adding to the wash.If anyone has used the Windfresh detergent sold in places like Sam's, I believe this Boardwalk detergent is the exact same stuff just sold with different labelling. It smells and looks exactly the same in my opinion. My final 2 cents worth, I think this is a good value to have around the house. If you prep or like to stock up, this will be long lasting. Expect to need to use some extra laundry aids if your family really soils their clothes.

Great value
Works well. Price per lb is cheaper than buying in the store. I like that it comes in a strong bucket.

Very economical, but fails to prevent oil buildup/staining
Just finished off the 40 lb bucket I ordered. It lasted nearly 2 years. For a basic cleaning this detergent was fine. Limited sudsing & very mild scent made for an inoffensive experience. As the primary wash for worn clothing, however, it simply doesn't do a good enough job removing body oils. This wasn't obvious at first, but over time the effect was the premature degeneration of a lot of our clothes. First and most noticeable on our teenager's t-shirts and the like, but eventually evident throughout the family's wardrobe. Increasing the amount of detergent used with each wash did not have a noticeable effect and we eventually began combining this detergent with a reduced dose of another brand (Persil) in order to have effective cleaning while still getting some value out of our purchase. Will not purchase again.

This will last you for a very long time!
This is an industrial grade laundry detergent. As such, it performs to the same standard of any heavy duty bulk detergent out on the market. The scent isn't too strong at all on the clothing, however while still in the bucket it is a very strong lemony type scent. I don't mind it, but some may find it irritating. This doesn't appear to be HE (High Efficiency) detergent, but I am using it in my Frigidaire front-load washer without any problems. No residue left behind in the machine, no stains/discoloration on the clothes. Most people experience clumping with powder detergents, you will only experience that more often with cold washes. To avoid detergent clumps, I recommend warm to hot water washes. I have used this detergent in both conditions and it only clumped up in the cold water wash, so use warm or hot so it can dissolve properly. There is no measuring cup included with this detergent, so find one, or just use a regular kitchen measuring cup at your desired size. Beware, this is a concentrated detergent, so a little goes a long way. Do not use a full cup of this stuff, it will likely weaken the fabric of your clothing much faster that way. Use fabric softener as well as another type of fabric conditioner to help mitigate damage to more sensitive fabrics. Most detergents are course cleaners, their job is to sanitize and deodorize, to do this, they have to use some harsher chemicals and compounds to deep clean the fibers, which eventually will weaken them. Since this is an industrial detergent, it is much stronger than your typical household stuff. Be mindful of your measurements. I typically use only about a 1/4 cup for a medium load, and about a 1/3 cup for a full load. All in all, this product is exactly as it is advertised, and it is a bargain! You could continue to pay $20-$30 for big name detergents like Gain and Tide and only get 100 washes, or you could just get this bucket and get nearly a year's worth of washes! Guarantee you an average family could use this same bucket for at least 8-10 months if proper measurements are used!
