Good Flashlight - Not crazy about some features.
I was looking for a basic 2 AA battery LED flashlight with multiple modes. I only have a few complaints about the Fenix E25. First I do not care for the on/off/mode switch up by the head of the flashlight. Its hard to find in the dark. I guess I am just used to tail cap clicky switches. The second thing is that this flashlight has a very distinct hot spot, with a little bit of spill. It does have a long throw, which is good. But for my needs I would rather have a little more of a flood, and a little less throw. The last thing is that to get the 260 Lumen rating, you have to hold down the mode switch to get the burst mode at 260 lumens. It does not stay in that mode if you let off the switch. You do have low, med, and high mode that will stay on. I'm not saying that this is a bad flashlight. It is a good flashlight. I do like the ability to use common widely available AA batteries, and that is the main reason I bought it. My few complaints are just personal preferences on my part, that I wish I had know before I purchased the flashlight. I will keep it, it probably just won't be my #1 go to flashlight. Maybe my wife or daughter will end up with it.

The E25 has a great beam and throws fairly well
The E25 has a great beam and throws fairly well. Near perfect circle hotspot in the center of the beam. The size makes it an awesome lightweight fishing and camping light. Everything about this light met my expectations except for the UI. When turning the light on and off you have to hold down the side button for about a second and a half. While that is not a super long time, it's long enough to irritate if you are used to the standard clicky on most flashlights. To get to the 260 lumens, you have to hold the side button down for a couple seconds then the beam turns off then turns back on to turbo mode 260 lumens. As soon as you depress the button it goes back to whatever mode you were previously on. Maybe with time I will get used to the UI but until then it's 4 stars for me. Other than the UI everything else about the light would be 5 stars. Package from Longhorn Tactical came with a decent holster and a keychain flashlight.

Ok so for a AA Flashlight this is pretty good. I still don't think this thing is as bright as it is rated to be.. Still pretty bright. I feel like my Olight s1 baton was just as bright if not brighter at only half the lumens. Also the switches are aggravating as hell on this thing.. 2 different buttons for strobe and regular power modes positioned to where they are nearly impossible to find in the dark. I'm probably going to send it back and get something with a tailcap switch. Also you have to hold the power button down for about .5 second to turn the light off which gets aggravating. Bottom line it's a pretty good light just not what I was really wanting.EDIT: You have to use 2 14500 batteries to get the full 1000 lumens.

Nice little flashlight
Nice little flashlight, very bright on high. It has 3 settings.....I would have given 5 stars if it had a strobe. Came with a nice holster and 2 alkaline batteries. UPDATE: Aug. 26,2016 I've been carrying and using this light as my work EDC flashlight since I purchased it over a year ago. I work in industrial maintenance and this little light has so far served me quite well. The nylon holstser that came with it has a hook and loop closure and is holding up well also.

Bright is an understatement
This flashlight is bright, durable and well worth the money! I have used it as a makeshift hammer and I witnessed no discernible damage! I threw it in my pool and after awhile pulled it out and it worked without a sweat. The flash button does come in handy and it is programmed well. It does take awhile to get used to the buttons on the side instead of the bottom but it works well where it is. For being so small it puts out a lot of direct bright light. It has a nice hand feel and weight, not cheap at all. I give it 5 stars!

Good AA flashlight, doubles as my bicycle headlight with a Fenix mount
Since I already have a plethora of rechargeable AA batteries, it made sense to me to purchase this light. Some other lights use a higher capacity rechargeable battery that will last longer. Being a practical person I chose this flashlight. In a pinch you can get AA batteries nearly anywere. 18650 or 123 rechargeable batteries you can't. As I wrote in the header it does double duty as my bicycle headlight, a task it performs well.

Buy a different Fenix model
This flashlight has great potential. However, the button on this light is terrible. When operating in the dark the button is impossible to locate by feel. And if you press the forward portion of the button it goes into strobe mode ruining your night vision for a good 30 seconds - not to mention disorienting everyone around you. I've also noticed that when using 14500 batteries in the brightest mode that the light will dim down to a lower setting after 20-30 seconds. That is not something I can rely upon in an emergency. I have not measured the output but it is a stretch to claim 1000 lumens. This one is going back to Amazon.

dysfunctional switch
I wrote a 5 star review of the Fenix E25 (not ultimate edition) when I ordered a backup. Did not notice that the E25 was replaced with the the E25UE. By adding strobe and SOS functions and making the switch a 2-part affair (for the 2 modes), Fenix effectively ruined an excellent flashlight. The switch cannot be used in darkness (I know that sounds silly, but it is true). Even in light, I had trouble getting the right mode. I returned the E25UE and got the fat Rayovac 2-state flashlight with tail switch. If you can find the original E25, it is very good, but you should pass on the Ultimate Edition.
