Waste of space
I thought this was actually the third book in the trilogy and bought it in error by clicking too quickly without properly reading the blurb. This is a short (50 page) cash-in which is nothing to do with Suzanne Collins. It has a plot summary (who needs this if you have read the books?) and some opinions about the books which are not supported by interviews with the genuine author. It's basically just a short fan book. Returned for refund.

Not the third book of the series Hunger games.
Buyer beware, this is not book three, it is called sidekick and is a guide to the book by another author, I have purchased it in error and am unable to return it.

Not what i thought it would be
Thought it was going to explore the world surrounding the hunger games and maybe tell more of how panem got to where it was.

Very disappointed.
All I received was Chapter headings on my paperlite with a few words of explanation. Was that all there really was ? Took 45 mins. to read . Very disappointed.

Great book, better than the movie but watching the movie helped putting faces to names in the book. All 3 books highly recommended.

Brilliant in every way~shows you things you probably missed~ double meanings & symbols explained~Interesting and Well written!
I loved reading Suzanne Collins Hunger Games Trilogy, so when I saw this Mockingjay Sidekick that promised more insight, I definitely was interested. It's been a while since I read the last book and since the movie is to be released on November 21st, I needed a quick refresher course before I hit the theaters.I'm so glad I read Katherine R. Miller's sidekick. In fact, I think every book reader can benefit from eBooks like this because she showed me things I'd missed entirely. With her outline, I was able to visually picture where the districts were and what their geographical location corresponded to. Something I never totally grasped before . It showed why District 4 is a fishing district, because it's close to the coastline, as opposed to Katniss district 12 being near the former Appalachia area which explained the coal mines.I learned that Panem is Latin for bread. I learned to look for the symbolism in yellow and it's representation throughout the book and where to look for it. And I learned that Rue is a yellow flower.I discovered that when Katniss is assigned to Squad 451, it's a nod to Bradbury's book Farenheit 451- talking about temperature and fire. That and many more revelations are a part of this sidekick. But my favorite part shows the juxtaposition of Gale and Katniss looking at each other through the mirror's reflection. Miller showed me that was how far they had come- to go from being best friends and seeing eye to eye on everything, to not being able to look at one another in the eye.Quite an eye-opener really at the symbolic meaning behind all this!If I could offer only one word for this book, it'd be "Brilliant". I will look for more of Miller's sidekick additions because it helps me enjoy the books that much more!

Even better than the movie.. and the movie was great!
Reading the hunger games series has been surprisingly enthralling even though I know the plot and watched the movies recently. It is a testament to great characters and story telling. A very enjoyable read.

Good As An Overview of "Mockingjay"
With the popularity of the “Hunger Games Trilogy” and now the “Mockingjay” movie being released, this sidekick can’t help but be a much needed support guide.Miller does a great job in writing this sidekick giving us the reader an overview as well as a deeper insight into the “Hunger Games” novel “Mockingjay” by Suzanne Collins. I loved the plot summaries giving a clear overview of groupings of chapters from the novel. Also detailed is the introduction of alternate endings causing a mind to really think of the possibilities. Very enjoyable is the chapter on themes and symbols of the “real or not real” and “full circle” which gives more insight into the book. While the character analysis of Katniss is good- I was very disappointed that with all the characters that this was the only character that was covered. I felt there should have been at least two or three analyzed. If there had been more characters covered I may have given this five stars but since there wasn’t I have to give only four again due to disappointment in not enough characters covered. So whether someone is currently reading the novel or preparing to see the movie this book is good as an overview.
