!! BEWARE !!
WARNING. Steer clear of this seller. I paid £2,755 for a Canon EOS R5 camera - BIG MISTAKE Not until the camera failed 6 months after purchase and taking it to the Canon repair center did I discover- 1. The camera had never been assigned a serial number or the serial number had been removed. 2. This invalidated the default one year "Canon Warranty" 3. The repair cost me a few pence under £500 to replace a failing PCB (motherboard) 4. Missing serial number threw doubt over the claim that the camera was "NEW" and its authenticity. (had it been stolen?) 5. Retrieving a serial number from the metadata of the photos, Canon advised me that the camera "was never intended for sale in the UK or Europe" 6. Seller showed no sympathy - just simply stating that their (unpublicized) warranty of 3 months had expired. 7. I telephoned Camix and asked to speak to customer services, but I was told "he" was away and would not return for three days. 8. This case has been referred to the Canon European investigation unit who are keen to know where this camera originated from.

I think this is the first camera that will actually pay for itself
Wow! I had a 5d mark iv, which I loved. During the first day of owning the R5 mirrorless I thought everything was strange. By the end of the week the camera was familiar and I was navigating it easily. It has now been one month and for fun I went back to the 5d mark iv today to see if it was really that different. It was crazy, the 5d mark iv feels like an antique now. Having access to the full sensor for autofocus points and animal af is way better than the old way of focusing. When animal af doesn't work the normal modes outperform too. The screen is brighter, the button layout is very intuitive (except video record on top, but you can always reassign buttons). The articulating screen is a much bigger advantage than I thought it'd be for landscapes, animals, and flowers. Silent electronic shutter is my new favorite mode; no more scaring animals or feeling annoying in quiet places such as arboretums. Self video recording is so much easier with people eye af, r5 stayed locked on eye the whole time. Some of the negatives I have are it took awhile to get used to the electronic viewfinder. The viewfinder seems to lag a bit and can be hard to view in lowlight. The main lcd display only turns off when you look through the viewfinder or if the articulating screen is turned around. Itd be nice if there was just an on/off button for it. Battery life isn't as good, but I can still walk around for 4hrs occasionally using the camera and be fine (5d mark iv batteries work). I have 1 rf lens and a 1 ef-rf adapter for all my ef lenses. The ef lenses perform amazingly and it is nice to have some IBIS for the non is lenses. This camera is so close to being perfect, and is clearly the best available right now. You can really tell that the cameras coming in the future are going to be phenomenal. If I was just starting out in photography I can not think of a better camera to own. For professionals the full sensor autofocus, extra customizations, and electronic viewfinder will be big bonuses over other bodies; allowing you to be more precise and effective.

A True Beast – Canon’s Mirrorless Masterpiece!
The Canon EOS R5 is hands down the most impressive camera I’ve ever used. As a hybrid shooter who does both photography and video, this camera checks every box and then some. Let’s start with the image quality—the 45MP sensor delivers stunning detail, dynamic range, and color. Whether I’m shooting portraits, landscapes, or events, the files are sharp and incredibly flexible in post. Autofocus is blazing fast and insanely accurate, especially with Eye/Face Detection. It locks on and tracks subjects like magic, even in challenging lighting. For video, the 8K recording is mind-blowing, and the 4K HQ mode looks cinematic and crisp. Canon's color science shines here. Overheating concerns were way overblown—it performs just fine in real-world use with proper settings and breaks between clips. In-body stabilization (IBIS) is a major win—handheld shots look rock-steady, and paired with RF lenses, the results are buttery smooth. The fully articulating touchscreen and dual card slots are also major conveniences. Yes, it’s an investment, but if you're a pro or serious enthusiast, the R5 is worth every penny. It’s fast, versatile, and absolutely reliable. Canon nailed it with this one.
