Lovely bin, won't last forever
I really like this bin and have recommended it to friends. However, this one was to replace one I bought about 4 and a half years ago - that old bin itself still looks good, it's good quality plastic, but the catch had got 'floppy' and would not reliably close - rather than frustrate myself with that, I bought a new one and will use the old one for storing something in the garage. They're not expensive and I reckon getting nearly 5 years use with the catch working well, was very good value. It looks good, takes up little space, it's very easy to use and I much prefer it to any other type of lid that I've had.I almost forgot - when I got the new one, the base was broken. I was surprised how easy it was to report that and have it collected and get a refund, with which I then ordered another one.

Stylish and Functional, but Lid Locking Mechanism Needs Improvement
I recently purchased the Curver Metal Effect 70% Recycled Kitchen One Touch Deco Bin in Black, 40 Litre, and while I'm generally satisfied with its performance, there are a few drawbacks worth mentioning.Let's start with the positives. First and foremost, the design of this bin is fantastic. Its sleek black metal effect adds a touch of sophistication to my kitchen, and the 40-litre capacity is perfect for my household's needs. The one-touch opening mechanism is convenient and hygienic, allowing for easy disposal of waste without having to touch the lid. However, the lid locking mechanism leaves something to be desired. Despite its claim of a "one-touch" operation, I've found that the lid doesn't always stay securely closed. It has a tendency to pop open unexpectedly, which can be frustrating, especially if there's any odor-sensitive waste inside. I've had to resort to pressing down firmly on the lid multiple times to ensure it stays closed, which somewhat defeats the purpose of the supposed ease of use. That being said, despite this issue, the bin still serves its primary purpose effectively. It contains odors well, and the 70% recycled material construction aligns with my commitment to sustainability. Plus, the generous 40-litre capacity means fewer trips to empty the bin, which is always a plus.In conclusion, while the Curver Metal Effect Kitchen Bin has its flaws, particularly with its lid locking mechanism, it still offers a stylish and functional solution for managing household waste. If the manufacturer could address the issue with the lid, it would undoubtedly earn a higher rating from me. But for now, it's a decent option that gets the job done.

Not as good as the model it's replaced
When all is said and done, this is a bin. I'm not the sort of person to get excited about refuse disposal. However, a review is a review, and Amazon say they'll tell me a joke after I've written this one (Man, that joke had better be good!) So here's my review: Like all plastic flip-lid bins, this one suffers from suction problems when removing a full bin bag. Simple solution - drill some holes on the back at the bottom. Air can then go in as the bag comes out. Next gripe - the ring that holds the bag in place is hinge attached to the lid. Great idea I thought! Until I tried to use it. The ring all too easily allows the bin liner to bunch up all around and then covers the locking mechanism so the lid won't stay down. Stupid. So you have to be cunning with your bin liner arrangement, which invariably leads to the liner slipping down at the front, allowing trash to get past and fall into the bottom of the bin, outside the liner.

Appalling bin, worse customer service
We'd had an identical Curver bin for years and were very happy with it. After moving house we decided to get a new one in smart black, thinking we'd be just as happy. But... after about a month of use the lid started to become harder and harder to open - and when it did open, it became harder and harder to close! The bin has been redesigned since our original one, and now the catch is dreadful. In the end the lid just stayed open, refusing to catch and hold shut. As it had been over 30 days since the purchase I went direct to Curver giving them the details and asking for a refund. They responded telling me they don't carry spares. I told them I don't want a spare thank you, I want a refund. They again told me they don't offer spares (brilliant, now I know they definitely DON'T offer spares), and asked for more details. I gave them the same details again. Then they asked me for a photo. I sent them a photo of the bin wide open. Then they said we'll give you a refund, it'll be with you within 10 working days. (The speed of this email communication was so slow it took literally days to get to this point.) Two weeks go by, no refund. I contacted them about 3-4 times wanting to know where my refund was with no response. I decided to reach out to Amazon instead, explained the situation, and they were brilliant - had a full refund processed straight away. So the moral of the story is: Don't ever buy from Curver, certainly don't get one of these stupid 'One Touch Deco' bins because they're appallingly made, and if you do either of those things despite my advice, be prepared for a long wait and very bad service from their 'customer service' department. We've now got a very nice, fully working, bin from Tower and the Curver one is in landfill sadly. No excuse for such a shoddy item, and certainly no excuse for such shoddy service from Curver.

Not as good as the old Curver
Bought this to replace my old touch Curver bin, the same one but older, as the last CK and springs had gone. This was reduced so good value and not much difference in cost to replace springs and lock. Not made as well as the old one, lid less sturdy but easier to clean.

Very useful
The shape of this bin is excellent. The flat back means it fits against a wall and doesn't stick out too far. the opening mechanism is another useful feature. No pedal to push just a gentle tap on the top. I also like the feature for fitting the bag in place. The ring keeps the plastic neat and in place. Easy to clean too.

Perfecto
Era justo lo que iba buscando! Hay muy poquitos cubos de basura de este tipo que se puedan abrir tocando la tapa con un dedo y a un buen precio. Y encima con un diseño de este tipo. Lo recomiendo!!
