Does the black paint come off easy on the striker plate

The back part id rounded ?

From whst I csn remember it is more rectangular than tubular with the edges rounded off to provide a gentle curve.

Does it fit any door?

Assuming the existing door has a similar latch but also check it has a rectangular shape end plate as some are oval shape (rounded top and bottom) you are off to a good start. The important thing is to measure the backset distance, i.e. from the endplate to the centre of the square spindle hole near the opposite end. It will be either 44mm or 57mm. It is an easy job to dismantle and replace these latches and can be done in 20 - 30 mins.

What size is spindle hole please

The diameter of the hole required is 22 mL

Saved me from getting locked in the bathroom!

A useful replacement for a latch on which the operating boss had broken and was making it difficult to open and close the door. It was a fairly easy to fit, the cutout on the edge of the door had to be opened up slightly to fit the faceplate of the new latch, but the screw holes were all in the right place. Now fitted the door opens and closes with ease.

Slightly larger diameter door latch.

This latch was of a slightly larger diameter than the one that I removed from my internal door. It would not fit in and I now have to buy a large carpenters drill bit to enlarge the bore hole in my door.
