Extremely Noisy and SHAKES ! ( if you assemble it backwards )
UPDATED REVIEW: Original Review shown below updates. TAKE NOTE: The Blade assembles to the Motor Shaft with a Setscrew - BUT - it can be slid onto the shaft two ways. If you attach it with the Setscrew facing out, towards the user, away from the Motor - THAT IS WRONG. The Setscrew needs to be facing the Motor side . It is more difficult (though still pretty easy) to tighten the Setscrew this way, as the Blade conceals access. But once attached properly, this Fan is everything you'd want it to be. The manufacurer really needs to place a sticker on the Blade to make clear which side is IN, and which side is OUT. ALSO - as stated my Control Knob was mis-assembled by the factory. Simply pull it off (no tools needed), and press it back on so that "0" is OFF, and not Full Speed as mine was. It remains a bit noisy, but after a moment or two you'll not even notice. It's basically White Noise. ORIGINAL REVIEW: Unpacked, my first impression was overwhelmingly positive. Lots of metal; very solid. But in operation, it is a NIGHTMARE. First of all ZERO should mean OFF, but instead 0 is Full Speed ! ONE is OFF. That makes no sense. But I could adjust to that. What I cannot adjust to, is it is very loud at any speed, and vibrates very badly on the hignest speed. And oddly enough, the breeze it provides is quite weak. Totally unsuited to a Bedroom, Family Room, or anywhere you'd want to be. Maybe ok for a busy, noisy workshop. But eve then you'd have to figure out a way to balance the blade. Perhaps a Lawnmover Blade Balancer and some Automotive adhesive lead weights ? DEFINITELY DO NOT RECOMMEND. ( I replaced this with the TAOTRONICS Wall Fan. The Taotronics is quiet, puts out a strong breeze even at its lowest setting, and even has a Remote. And costs less ! )

Solid customer service
I bought three of these fan and after 3 months one fans oscillating function quit working, wrote hydrofarm, sent in the model number and receipt and within a week I had a replacement fan. Now for the fans, there all metal and heavy. And they move a lot of air even on low. These are really meant for greenhouses and businesses. The one in the picture is behind a wood stove but did a great job during the summer, yeah had to turn the tv up a little but not bad on low. It does rattle on high but the truth is I will never have it high low or medium is more than enough air. Maybe to loud for a bedroom but works well in the right location.

Excellent fan!!
Excellent Wall Mount Fan! I recently purchased the Hydrofarm ACFW16HDB Active Air Wall Mount Fan, and I’m extremely satisfied with its performance. Here are my thoughts: Easy Assembly: Putting this fan together was a breeze. The instructions were clear, and it took me only a few minutes to set it up. Sturdy Wall Mount: The wall mount is robust and securely holds the fan in place. I appreciate the durability of the materials used. Powerful Airflow: The fan delivers a strong airflow, making it perfect for both indoor and outdoor use. Whether I’m in my garage or on the patio, it keeps me cool. Steel Blades: The steel blades contribute to its efficiency. They’re built to last and handle continuous operation. Whisper Quiet: As advertised, this fan is remarkably quiet. I can enjoy its cooling effect without any annoying noise. String Control: While the pull strings are functional, I agree that chains would be a better choice. If the string breaks, it’s inconvenient not to have control over oscillation. In summary, the Hydrofarm ACFW16HDB is a reliable, heavy-duty wall mount fan that meets all my expectations. I highly recommend it!

Good Fan But....
Have had this fan for 2 years. The fan provides a strong wind and I have it wall mounted in an interior corner under a covered patio and may be exposed to occassional winds depending on the strength. However some weeks back, I noticed that the plastic cage ring held together by a small screw broke and the front grill came undone. I am in the process of trying to find a replacement front ring and having some serious difficulty. The fan is still operationsl albeit unsafe without the front grill despite being wall mounted. I noticed another reviewer had a similar issue so be aware that despite being rated for outdoor use, it may not be truly able to withstand temperature and wind. I bought a second one in a more sheltered location with minimal exposure to winds and heat and that one has survived thus far.

Not "whisper quiet"
While the motor on this fan looks (and feels) like it should last a decade, the fan blade - itself - is the issue. The fan blade, at least on the unit received is not balanced correctly and as a result, creates a massive amount of noise. It's stamped aluminum that is riveted together. If you remove the fan blade, the motor is nearly silent. Checking the shaft, it is straight. Which leaves the fan blade/s as the culprit for the noise. On it's lowest speed, the unit "wobbles" as a result of the fan blades not being balanced. Was really looking forward to a fan that (at least on low) would be very quiet to move air. When the fan is over 10' away and is so loud that the person on the other end of a call hears the fan - it's not quiet. This was to replace *TWO* smaller fans that run on high 24x7 in a 20'x20' room that are inaudible during calls. There is also little to no discernible difference between the lowest and the highest fan speeds, which also seemed peculiar.

slowest speed is fast
Solidly built, was not difficult to install, but the slowest speed is faster and louder than what I expected for even the highest speed. I installed one of these in each of our guest bedrooms, but it will not be easy to sleep with these on, even at the lowest setting. High speed might blow the bedding off the bed.

Avoid. Lasted less than a year.
Fan worked perfectly fine for about 6 months mounted on the wall in my garage. But then out of no where I noticed it wasn’t oscillating any more. Nothing I could do fixed it. Next the motor went. Only speed was low and then it finally gave out. Cheap crap. You get what you pay for. Avoid if you can

Bought two of these when they were on sale to use outdoors under my 10x12 wooden gazebo but wasn’t sure if two would be needed depending on just how much airflow one was going to put out. Wow... one was perfect BUT figured why not have another across from the first one in case we needed more airflow on extra hot days. Very well built, and are not super loud but no fan is silent, especially at the high third setting. Mounted these directly on my wooden posts that are solid, but at times I can feel a bit of vibration throughout the deck when the fan is oscillating from side to side but I’m the only one in the family that can so who cares. One of the fan dial switch does not allow you to change the actual speed but only the pull cord does. The second fan dial DOES so must be a flaw in the first ones dial set up but I’m fine with the pull strings use to get it going. These sure saved me from bringing out our floor based house fans to use outside. Would for sure recommend these. They also act as a great mosquito repellent cause they cannot handle the high winds from having two go at the same time.

I am in about a 12' x 12' room and this fan is more than enough to cool that space. But if there is a lot debris and dust I wouldn't recommend this fan, unless you're willing to clean it often. It's an amazing fan but I doubt it could take a lot of dust, hay, or debris of any kind on a regular basis.

The air this thing moves! wow. I think this is probably my most powerful fan at the moment. It does have a fairly significant design flaw though, and this is more for customers than manufacturer feedback because I assume anyone would know this and this was probably a cost saving measure. The base is metal, the arm is metal, the motor housing, fan blade and cover are all metal. Heavy metal at that.. but the 2 critical pieces between the arm and motor housing are plastic. It doesn't make sense to make everything heavier and then having the moving part bearing all the weight being the weakest point. I gave it 4 stars because it moves insane amounts of air. I just don't think it will hold up.

I bought 3 of these and they are complete garbage! If zero stars were an option, that's what I'd rate it. The metal blade is so sharp on the edges you could slice your finger off. They vibrate like crazy and make a ton of noise. One of them didn't even last 2 days and the tilt function broke and it won't oscilate anymore either. The remaining 2 are rattling away on my wall until I can find some replacements.

Easy to install. Going strong after 5 years with use every day. We bought 5 units, they all continue to work well.
