Works great and is an excellent tool
your playing will improve exponentially with this pedal. this is as vital a tool as a metronome imo. it is probably a little limited for a complex soloist performer when it comes to your "layers" and arrangements Live .....but for composing and practice, it has no equal currently. i have been a guitarist for 30 years,my playing has improved so much in the last 2 months of using the Ditto looper that i weep i didn't have something like this the first 30 years!! it also took me from a total noob bass plucker to a compliant bassist in about the same 2 months(never played bass before that). it give you the ability to analyze in real-time your rhythms, timing and even tone. another great use is to play your licks....let the ditto "loop" just one layer, and then go adjust your gear(amps, pedals etc) to craft you amp sound instead of the old "strum, twiddle with knobs, strum again twiddle with knobs" method of getting your "right tone" and in the same vane it can be used as a diagnostic tool to find bad connections/cords/jacks etc by letting the looper "play the guitar" while you hunt down the gremlins. what makes this better for this then all the looper that came before is...there is ZERO loss of tone. so you know if you tweak your amp in loop mode, the amp will sound the same OFF autopilot. sorry i didn't get more into the "features" of the looper but i think you get that idea from the other reviews. my only complaint is it should be priced at 99bucks and should COME with a power supply imo.

Great tool for my purpose
I like the simplicity of this pedal. Took me all of 5 minutes to learn how to use it, and 4 of those were spent looking for the tiny slip of paper the instructions were written on. It's small design fit very easily onto my already packed pedal board. And it sounds great. Well.. it WILLl when my chops improve LOL (garbage in, garbage out)I've been a rhythm guitarist for around 20 years and I feel I need expand my abilities. So, I mainly bought this pedal as a tool to teach myself to play better leads. I record a repeating chord progression and then try to play a lead over the top of it. For this, this pedal rocks. It's quick. It's easy. And it works perfect for what I bought it for. I could see, however, how the one button design would not be ideal for more performance based use. But, I don't think it's something that practice and a volume pedal couldn't help. Just think about your needs before you buy.The one thing that keeps it from being a 5 star for me, is it's tendency to "clip" when dubbiing multiple loops. Get too agro with it and the signal starts cutting out a bit. Again, I think that practice and proper volume control can help you eliminate this issue. (note: I use an acoustic with an active pickup which could be part of the problem as it has had a tendency to overdrive a few of my other pedals.)All in all, it's a fun little tool that gets the job done, quick and dirty. But, as with most things, if's not ideal for every one. As stated before, think about your needs before you buy.

Excellent looper for the price! Easy to use. Great tool for lead practice, or live rhythm backing. No complaints here!

My Experience, Not A Reliable Looper Out of the Box
Beware, this is an older model nowadays and you don't know really what you're getting in the box. I received the unit, played it a few times early on with no problems. Tried using it for a few ideas after it just sitting with the batteries installed. Only had it long enough for the return period to expire. The problem is major. When pressing the loop switch, a loud pop occurs and is recorded as part of the loop. So every loop has this loud pop and a second of no sound. When stopping the loop, there is a loud pop as well. Went to see if there was a fix by downloading firmware update and there were no updates for the X2 on the TC Electronics website. Had to read a ton of comments on the pedal and it's reliability, found a popping issue that dealt with possible capacitor charge buildup, nothing I can fix. Submitted a ticket to their Music Tribe customer service, will update review if they follow through.Update - I did receive a response with some solutions such as check PSU and hard reset; had done all that already. They said to contact third part seller, Alto Music, for warranty. Only an address on Amazon page for Alto so I started a chat with Amazon to see if there was a faster email address. Long story short, Amazon was able to allow me to return the defective unit! Amazon is reliable, TC products made in China are not.
