This is a brand you can trust. There are quite a few out there that you cannot trust. I recently tried another brand that was cheaper, because I have no income right now. However, this is a product I need. I started taking it back in 2011 (I don't remember which brand) for depression, and figured out it was helping for joint pain within about a month as well. The ingredients in this brand are very effective. I had been taking another brand for a month or two, and didn't realize what was happening when my hip pain got so bad I could barely walk, and my depression worsened dramatically. I finally realized what it could be. I found an unopened blister pack of this brand that was still in my medicine cabinet, and started taking it again. I thought it must be placebo effect when my hip pain was noticeably better the next day, but two weeks later it is virtually gone, and my depression has eased a lot as well.

I used to be really depressed. I'm not just being flip ... I've been seeing a psychiatrist for about a decade, more off than on in the past two years. I was super depressed. I decided to NOT take anti-depression meds because I wanted to be sure what I was feeling was authentic and because I had tried them in the past unsuccessfully. Through a lot of hard work and patience from my family, friends and doctor, I don't have a diagnosis of depression anymore. I'm a very happy person now! Having said all that LOL ... I still suffer from Seasonal Affective Disorder (SAD) in the winter. I live in a very cloudy city and used to live in a very sunny city. A couple three years ago, I was mentioning this to an older woman and she said "I can help but you have to hear me out." Of course, I was intrigued. She told me about SAMe. I asked her how she found out and she said "A shaman told me." Okay. This person is the LEAST likely person to go see a shaman for anything anywhere but she had run into one on a vacation and he told her to try it. She figured what did she have to lose? Your blues, that's what. So, I got a pack of SAMe, not this brand, kept it in my car and took one every day on my way to work. One day, out of no where, I was like hey, I feel good. GOOD!! I continue to take them until summer rolled around. Once the days start getting shorter, I start taking them again. Since then, they have gone up in price substantially all over. And then you also run the risk of not getting the dosage you need or getting something that upsets your stomach or whatever. So far, I haven't had any trouble with this brand. I feel good. I feel mentally even-keeled, it does seem to help my ever-present joint pain and I just feel BETTER overall when I take SAMe. I have recommended it to many friends and will continue to do so. I was worried about this brand because I read so many people got upset stomachs. I've been fine and my stomach gets upset if I take OTC pain relievers. These are not the magic pill. You can't just take one and everything will be okay. For some people I've talked to, it takes a month or two. For me, it took about a month to really feel the effects the first time. Once I got on my seasonal rotation, it seems to take less time to even out from the SAD effects. The instructions on this pack suggest one a day but say some people might find another one a day beneficial. This is inline with what other brands suggest. I've never had to take more than one a day. There is a warning not to take these if you are bi-polar or maniac depressive or if you are taking prescription anti-depressants. This is something you should talk to your doctor about. There are some side effects, you can find them by doing a web search, but they are rare. YMMV of course. The price on these is VERY reasonable. This is a three-month supply. Unless you have to up the dosage for the first month or two ... It's one thing to give five stars to a sweater or some a kitchen gadget or something but when it comes to something that goes in your body, I think it's important to know if other people have had success. I have had success with this product. I'm going to look to see if I can put it on subscribe and save. It sits by my computer and I take one every morning with my coffee. Sometimes I eat right away, other days I don't. No tummy issues :)

This year starting January 2026 I haven’t missed a day, while I went through life altering surgery in addition to another injury on the left side of my body, I was very down as I couldn’t work. What SAM-e has done for me with consistency: This medicine has assisted my focus, energy, mood, and mental resilience to such a significant degree to where I’m simply great full to have found it. The benefits are noticeable for me personally after the first week. After 1 month I simply feel stabilized mentally. After 3 months I felt joyful after going through many setbacks that would cause any normal individual to feel great. It’s gotten me back to where I was over 10 years but without any negative side effects. I highly recommend you give this a shot if you’ve tried other treatments that haven’t worked. Conclusion: Personally it has benefited me by providing energy, mental focus, memory, clarity, joy, pain relief, and more. Take consistently (I take it at 5:30AM), in conjunction with NAD +, fish oil, small 0.5-1 gram dose of creatine and 1 Tablespoon of MCT oil with a snack(fruit)/breakfast. That combination with 5 min of sunlight outside and a bit of minor exercise sets me straight for the rest of the day allowing me to power through any surprises that pop up. I haven’t been able to pin point the smell, but it’s not a bad one. I take it with water or juice so the taste isn’t noticeable. I hope this helps!

Once I saw that I've purchased this product 15 times, I thought I should probably write a review. I was diagnosed with depression many years ago, and was prescribed antidepressants which seemed to work at first but had a dulling effect over time. For me on antidepressants the world just became meh, no lows, no highs, just detached, and I hated that feeling. Sam-e has helped me be in the world, participate and feel much more normal. These help me enjoy life, even with all the craziness of it, especially in these times. Sam-e has absolutely improved my quality of life for many years now, and this is a trusted product of mine.

This is the 2nd time I've ordered it. No after taste, I'm in a much better mood state when I take it and my knee joint feels more lubricated and less achy.

I read about this brand at a third-party testing site which picked it as one of its top selections. I can absolutely say I feel a LOT better knowing that it contains what it's supposed to contain, doesn't contain things that aren't good (like fillers or heavy metals) and makes a difference in my life. I'd suggest, absolutely, that if you are pondering this as a supplement, you read up on what it's been proven to do (and not do) and don't harbor hopes or illusions about it. Educate yourself before ANY supplement is added to your routine, that way you'll know better if it works for you or not.

This Sam-e caused extreme stomach pain. It feels like its burning my stomach and has caused diarrhea, after taking it for 3 days. What a complete waste of money. I just want Doctors Best Sam-e! Why is it unavailable????
