Mattel Juice Box Personal Media Player - Red

I have found another use for this toy. My daughter is non-verbal autistic, and the Juice Box, along with the MP3 starter kit converts into a digital image viewer that my duaghter can scroll through and "choose" what she wants. We use it as a communication tool for her with digital photos. I am heart-broken it's been discontinued as it is such a great device for this specific use. It is also durable enough that we let her take it back and forth to school.

I feel as if I must warn everyone out there. This is a now defunct product and either the MP3 itself or the website will give your computer a virus that will hide all of your music and photo files, destroy all of your files in windows media player, and basically just wreak chaos on your pc for your music AND PHOTOS. Beware!

Before you buy this, check out when the last review was written. Yup 2004. Thought I'd do you a favor and make sure you realize that because I didn't. This is a 2004 mp3 player with a color screen like an old color gameboy so expect it to be just that. I got it for my 4 year old who asks me to sing the star wars theme song every night and I wanted something portable for him to bring to bed with him. Well after downloading the mp3 from amazon and it not working I realized I had to convert the mp3 to 128 kbps for it to handle it. This thing runs on a little cartridges that stick out the side, so buying the mp3 converter kit is just an SD card and a converter cartridge. I'm a little worried about him breaking the big mp3 cartridge off, but what the heck I think he'll still like it.

This is very un user friendly!

I recently got a juicebox from my parents for my b-day, and it is good. There are a few complaints.1. It only supports a 128 and 44 kbps bit rate. Its easy to simply download the right one, but its a hassle to redownload all your songs.2. Putting pictures on it is a pain. You cant just use windows explorer (which is what i like to do) like you can with the mp3s. I never thought that this was a big deal, but i know people might care.3. The memory card it comes with is WAY to small. 32 megs will let you put about 8 songs on there. I bough a big card though, so it works.Considering how cheap this is, it is definately a good deal.

Don't care what people say. This thing got me throught some thought times as a kid.

Poor quality

I bought one for my nephew recently and he loves it. He watches cartoons and wrestling non-stop, though I wish there were more titles. The screen is a little dark even with the back light (not really a big deal), but I like the fact that it's large, and the size of the unit is also a plus. The MP3 player is a little bulky and I had to help him with the download of songs, but the quality was very good. The software that came with it was also very straight forward and user friendly. I haven't played with the photo viewer yet, but I think that the combination of MP3/Video Player is a good bang for the buck
