I had a fridge I was just about to give away. Ran great up to about 3 months ago. The temp started becoming erratic. Noticed the fridge side getting warmer than it should. After doing some research on the internet, I narrowed it down to 2 possible problems. This thermostat was the less expensive of the 2 options. It's been running now for about a week with no issues! First time I ever fixed a fridge before. I was ready to give it away, not anymore, it is stocked full of drinks freeing up space in our "main" fridge. Easy to install, took about 15 minutes.

This thermostat is an excellent replacement for the Magic Chef (Maytag) GT1726PVCW17 refrigerator from 2001.Great value for extending the life of an older but reliable appliance.Highly recommended!

Part was a replacement for Kenmore Part # 2198202 for refrigerator model 106.57362702 Kenmore.Refrigerator is working again. The ice cream is staying frozen in the freezer and the refrigerator is staying cold again.Thanks

easy to install, it actually was overkill, on setting 3 everything in the fridge froze..... have on 0-1 and it works

This thermostat worked for about 2 weeks and then started getting erratic temperature swings, and then it ran the Fridge constantly until it got to 24 degrees in the Fridge and started freezing food adjusting the dial did not do any good, it ignored it . Had to put a timer on the Fridge to keep it in the 30's until I could get another thermostat installed.Only a 30 day return for this junk, for good reason.If you are going to do this repair, stay with OEM equipment, it might cost more but will save you lots of head aches and work.

I installed this in an older whirlpool ED25DS side by side. This thermostat is a much cheaper alternative to a genuine, works ok, but take note of a few things… the temperature dial positioning is much different than the original. For me, the fridge dial needs to be set just past the off position to maintain the fridge at 36 degrees… any higher and the items in the fridge will freeze. The freezer temperature dial needs to be set to coldest to maintain temp between-5 degrees and 10 degrees. The plastic sheath that covers the temp sensor tube is shorter than the metal tube, leaving about 4 inches at the end exposed… This is different than OEM which might be the reason for the dial setting difference? For $10 it is just fine, and I am keeping it in, but next time I would look for an another.
