Viper 4816V Remote Start 2-Way, 1-Button System

Is a great remote start for anyone that has the need for just the remote start function. Came and is quality viper product not a nock off. If it is it’s a very good one. Haha.

These self starters are life savers here in Texas with our heat. But this is not easy to install. Had to have professional installed. Thought I’d save money buying. But they upped the price because I didn’t buy with them. So no money saved. 🤨

Works well, reliable

Bought this because of the slick looking one button remote. I didn’t want one with buttons that would duplicate the factory buttons on the Honda key. I also have the “big brother” model on my Jeep and it was very easy to install. This one is harder because the remotes do not come paired with the alarm. Not too difficult on the 2-way remote since it beeps back at you and changes color as you step through the stages to pair it. The 1-way way harder since it has only one color led and doesn’t give very positive feedback. I knocked down the install stars since no install instructions are included and no link to find them is included either. If you go to the viper dei site it will only show the operation manual if you search 4816V. You can find a pdf on-line with some searching. I guess DEI is trying to protect their dealers by making it harder to find install details. I think they should owe you a pin out at a minimum if you pay full price for their product. It’s very difficult to change any of the preprogrammed defaults with only a one button remote. The procedure says to use the lock and unlock buttons on the remote to choose options, but clearly the single button remote doesn’t have them. I will probably never buy another DEI product again after seeing how they play this sleezy game. Back in the day you would get good detail on how each wire worked printed on paper and in the box. Unlock signal is ignored while the engine is running, but that is a Honda issue not a Viper one. Pretty hard to gift something that doesn’t have instructions available.

I got this Viper remote start for my wife from Best Buy and had them install it. At first it seemed a good purchase, she has a Wrangler without power locks so a one button fits the bill. After about a month the remote loses sync with the unit and will make a buzzer sound instead of starting the vehicle. Each time we bring it back to get it sync'd. They replaced the remote once and suggested the vehicle battery may be weak. The batter was less than a year old but since I did not purchase it I replace it. The unit still loses sync and I am about ready to rip the thing out and get something else.

Nowhere near a mile, mine only works up to 1 city block.
