Um...this is B.L.A.C.K......BLACK HOLE BLACK.
Welp....I'm an artist...so I have been 'playing' with paints....since I can remember....and....this stuff is BLACK....I mean BLACK......most paints have so me or even a ....slight sheen.....as....this has DONE......it is listed as a MATTE paint....but after playing with it for a minute and waiting for it to dry down....it...literally....looks like VELVET....smooth.......NO LIGHT reflection.....like A....very very dark....black HOLE...My suggestion is not to use this with other acrylic paints....because this paint is so unique...it will not settle 'in' or BLEND well...with the sheen of the...other acrylic paints....it is dense and VERY DARK....smooth and appearing to be....VELVET.Quite frankly....I have NEVER used an art product quite like this....The VISCOSITY of the paint is dense...thicker and a cream like paste.......not the thin runny paints for child's play....as this stuff has some 'bulk' to it.I Originally found this by searching for......... 'JAPANESE unique art supplies'.....and VOILA......saw this and bought it.....WHAT A UNIQUE PAINT......!If you wanna play.....and experience a whole new TEXTURE abd DRY DOWN with some unique paint......you need to TRY THIS.this afternoon......I 'played' for a while....experimenting with different papers and surfaces....and welp.......YOU NEED this people.....it is BRAZEN in its UNIQUENESS...and a fabulous matte...dreamy...very velvet paint texture.I think I'm in LOVE....smile.

Yes, this is the blackest acrlyic!
Expensive but you pay for what you get. These are really black! I painted other brands adjacent to this and they are a grade less black. I am shocked that this item is as black as they report in advertising. Take note these are expensive and smaller than you would consider, but the advantage they are truly black. They are the most unreflective black I have seen. If you desire a sheen, wait for this to dry, then cover lightly with satin or gloss finish, but the intense matt appears the darkest black ever! Oddly you can use a thin layer of this as a black GLAZE to go over preexisting colors. To tone down saturation and as glazing, a form of blending colors and value gradation.

It’s pretty black
It’s good it’s pretty thick so use a good brush that can get you an even coating

"Black. Blacker than a whole in the earth!"
TLDR, Musou black paint is the blackest paint I've ever used. Grab it if you're looking for a very black paint that's a breeze to paint with and (as of April 2025) it doesn't have any smell of chemical death like earlier versions warned about requiring PPE.Okay, but is it "vanta black"? No. It's arguably many shades darker than chalk black, and a shade darker than Black 3.0. I bought this paint to upgrade my "black" telescope tube in hopes of preventing scattered light. This paint is shades blacker than the one used from a telescope's factory black so I'm happy. And I was pleasantly surprised just how great of a paint it is! Creamy inky black consistency that cleans up easy with water. A real pleasure to paint with. It dries fast but be aware anything this black has a subtle fuzzy texture so it will be more vulnerable to touch. Not really suitable for something you handle everyday. I painted it with a paint brush but I've read you'll get even better results if applied with an airbrush. All that being said, it's not pure abyss black. It's simply blacker than any competitor I've come across. So, when I bought a swatch of Musou's black felt to compare it to a standard I had to pick my jaw up off the floor. Musou's black felt is considerably blacker than any paint could ever likely achieve. It's literally the blackest material I've ever seen in real life. A bit more expensive than this paint but I absolutely plan on upgrading to this brands felt as soon as price permits. My camera's white balance went absolutely haywire. It's black. "Blacker than a hole in the earth". Compared to other black-out felt it's in its own league (see pictures). I painted a cap and swatch in Musou to compare. I knocked a star from this review (perhaps unfairly) just because their felt is so much blacker than anything else on this earth I couldn't help but feel envious and a little buyers remorse?! It's a paint though. Felt might not be ideal for all uses.

Spectacular product!!!
This is the most beautiful black paint I have ever used. It looks like black velvet on the canvas. It's covering power, even over the brightest colors is both magnificent and flawless. I'm delighted to have discovered this product. After I used it the first time, I immediately bought 4 more bottles. I wish it was available in larger sizes. But then, it dries so quickly, maybe that isn't such a good idea. If you've ever wanted a truly deep, deep black, this stuff beats the socks off of wasting time and money mixing your own black and never getting it to come out as dark as you want it.
