Spigen Ultra Hybrid Designed for iPhone Xs Case (2018) / Designed for iPhone X Case (2017) - Crystal Clear

I first got this case last year for my iPhone 8 and loved everything about it. In light of my terrific experience, I made sure to immediately order a new one recently after upgrading to an iPhone XS.I've always loved slim and sleek cases. While I want my phone to be protected, at least to some degree, I detest the bulky, weighty and hefty cases that are prevalent in the marketplace. In light of the fact that I am holding my phone in my hand for several hours each day, I need something that will be comfortable and enjoyable to hold and use.What's particularly great about this case is that it offers that sleek and slim design that I aim for without compromising protection. It is a rigid case that does a good job of securing the phone without being uncomfortable to hold or irritating when placed a pocket. Moreover, the case is made out of material that is not slippery or prone to being dropped.In addition, I've always loved the natural look of the iPhone itself. I never understood why so many people use cases that completely cover up and conceal the phone's features and design. Accordingly, I prefer clear cases and have purchased them regularly in the past. Unfortunately, though, most clear cases shock me with their ability to yellow so quickly. This case differs--it offers a clear backing that does not yellow at all. In conjunction with the black borders, the clarity of this case really accentuates my iPhone's natural design and offers a terrific and unobstructed view without breeding concerns about yellowing or deteriorating.Simply put, this is a phenomenal case, especially in light of the very reasonable price. It is sleek and comfortable to hold, it offers favorable protection and security, and features an awesome clear backing. In addition, there is a nice offering of color options for the borders, and the clear backing does not yellow or accumulate noticeable grime.

I buy a lot of phone cases. For different reasons. For me, it is finding one that can take a few drops. Good ones. Like on cement stairs. But I don’t want anything like an Otterbox or something that you have to encase with multiple pieces. I want it to be light. I want it completely clear. I want it to look like glass, but feel like rubber because I need a certain grip. Unfortunately I am on the phone too much. That’s another issue. I have an iPhone X and my phone gets dropped from time to time. It happens. We all know what that situation feels like: you are opening your car door, keys or purse or wallet or groceries everywhere, things are going on, it’s Tuesday, and you drop it. And time stands still as you calculate the potential cost of what fate could soon bring. Did you buy a cheap case? What is cheap? Am I feeling lucky? This case was tested twice. By accident. Right off the bat, you can see and feel the quality of the case. Full disclosure, I use this company’s (Spigen) magnetic phone case holder that simply consists of a powerful magnet that slides between vent slots and a flat piece of metal that you stick to the back of your phone case. I love that product because it actually works. That’s another review I will do if it helps anyone. I spent a lot of money on junk on here. It happens. It’s not like I am getting ripped off by hundreds, but through the years I have bought plenty. And shatterproof glass screen protectors, which you also have to have to compliment your case. If you aren’t going to put a good screen protector on your phone, don’t waste money on this case or any other. My opinion. But it is based on having lots of experiece. Like 2 teenagers. I invest in quality screen protectors and it has paid off. This review of this case includes the fact that I had an excellent screen protector on my phone as well as this case. I didn’t have the case for more than 30 hours before two good tests. The first drop was the classic too much crap in my hands at the mailbox straight up drop on cement. It was dropped from approximately 5 feet. Wind conditions were normal. Visibility was clear and there was a fairly significant amount of humidity which is normal for Miami. Picked up my phone already convincing myself it was cracked. It’s an unpleasant experience to say the least. The result? No damage. Nothing. Nada. The second drop was me running to my truck in the rain. It was pouring and I was waiting for the rain to let up before making a break for it. No pun intended. I started but immediately realized I wasn’t going to make it without getting soaked and ran a few steps back and slipped just a little. Just enough to grab the rail hard with my phone in my hand. Pretty good impact on the rail and then immediately it was dropped. About 3 ft. Nothing. No damage whatsoever.I love this case. It’s light weight and firm. You can tell by the quality of the areas that cover the volume controls, etc. because they are very responsive and line up exactly. Clear. The drops were a result of my clumsiness and decisions and not a result of grip. This is in no way slick or glass like. I have a case that I love that works wth little magnets and it creates air pockets and other cool stuff. But it is slippery. It’s curved too. You cannot use a slippery case even if it is the coolest case and it could under the right circumstances change your life. You can’t. So if you are getting away with that right now, a slippery phone, you should quit while you are ahead. I am really happy with this case. If you want to get into details about what they claim is “air cushioned technology” you can check the specs. What I notice is all 4 corners widen slightly to absorb impact and the molding on the bottom outside raises slightly at all corners to prevent full impact if dropped flat. I am going to get a few more for this price. They are good gifts. Especially for people who break their phone a lot and you pick up the bill. Buy.

After using a wallet-style case for my iPhone X for some time and getting tired of the bulk of such a case, I decided to go back to a bumper style case for a smaller footprint.This is one of the highest quality bumper cases I've used. The rim is a nice, no-slip rubber material that wraps all the way around the edge of the phone, protecting the screen from "head-on" drops since the case will absorb the hit. The rubber corners on the back of the bumper have a bit of a lift to them so that the phone rests on the case, rather than, for example, the camera lens, and allows it to lie flat on a surface. The window panel on the back is nice and clear and appears to be resisting scratches well and adds a nice look with the black iPhone. Everything fits as expected. I didn't have any trouble using a tempered glass panel on the front with this case, though I suppose this would depend heavily on the type of screen protector you use.Slipping the phone in and out of the bumper - in case you want to do that - is fairly easy, though I try to avoid doing this as this tends to weaken the bumper over time. If this is important to you, though, it's possible and fairly easy with this case.Overall, super happy with this bumper. Hopefully it'll last, though after a couple of weeks of daily use, it still looks brand new with no evidence of damage or scratches. Definitely recommend!
