maybe 1/3 as bright as advertised
Very disappointed. Bought a 500 lumen light and this one at the same time. Same batteries: 16340 (2000mah) all topped off on the same charger. The 500 lumen light is at least as bright as this one and better focused so it actually feels brighter than this. It's NOT 1200 lumens bright at all. Didn't feel light hassling with a return to China as it was $13 (plus $5 shipping) and not worth my time. It's an okay flashlight. Just don't expect 1200 lumens. Shipping was a complete joke. They advised me the day before it was supposed to arrive that it had just shipped from China, so it was weeks overdue.

Great compact light for the price!
SO it appears I got an authentic Ultrafire, mine was shipped through Windfire fulfilled by Amazon (for those asking for a good source). Light is definitely not 1000 lumens, by comparison to my Fenix TK11 (rated at 225 lm) it's brighter, but not 775lm brighter, with out an accurate way to measure the actual lm, I'd have to guess it's 500ish, which is plenty for what I need. I also use the Ultrafire 18650 rechargeable batteries it recommends, which is very convenient as you can just grab a fresh one from the charger whenever you need and keep it bright all the time. With that said, I would in no way complain because it's very bright for $12 and is a heck of a buy. It's very durable (see the other reviews about knock off Ultrafires (501b & 502bs as well) apparently they are out there and those are the ones that people are having issues with. I also have the 502b - 3 mode that's authentic, and it's held up very well considering what it's been through, still works like a charm. Hopefully I can start a trend here and have reviewers post which company theirs was shipped through so we can help others avoid getting the knock offs.

Over Rated. I wouldnt buy this again.
More like 100 lumen, not 1000I bought this light a couple of months ago, however the label on the side reads "Ultrafire". The fit and finish of this light is excellent. The rear power button has a clean "click" and the quality seems high. The light from this flashlight is a different story, unless I got a defective piece.....(which i highly doubt) I use the Tangsfire 18650 3600mah 3.7v Rechargeable Li-ion Battery to power this light. Unfortunately the light output from this light is between 100-200 lumens.I have some other flash lights to compare to - My "go to" light is Fenix TK41 Flashlight which is rated at 800 lumen and is many times brighter and more powerful than this one.Even the "Dorcy 41-4750 CyberLight Weather Resistant LED Flashlight" appears twice more powerful ! For the money, this flashlight isnt bad, just dont expect it to be all that bright.(For the record - mine is 501b - the one with single on/off click)

Super bright and convenient.
My coworkers call this the portable sun, it's so bright. The single mode makes it perfect for someone trying to light up a crawl space or above a drop in ceiling, and it's small enough to throw in my tool bag easily. There are 2 downsides to it though. First, it gets pretty warm if you have it on for a while which is great in the winter time, and second, the glass is fragile I just broke it because a screwdriver smacked the lens. Still love the flashlight, but now I have to buy another one.

Illuminating wonder
If it is a flashlight anyone is looking for, then don't look any further. I really can't find any justification to give any negative reviews about this product. I had been looking for a flashlight with ample illumination and good physical properties. I purchased this one, and used it in conditions where a flashlight and only a flashlight is needed. It proved to be beyond my expectation. I am really impressed.

Warning - uses special expensive batteries that can't be bought in a store
Was not made clear in the item description that this flashlight requires a special battery, with a special charger, that you have to purchase separately. Plus, this type of battery is nearly impossible to find in a store. So you have to buy several and keep spares charged and on hand. What a hassle for a flashlight. I'm used to slapping in some double AA's and moving on with whatever I'm doing, without spending a lot of time and effort on the process. Now I have to worry about my flashlight batteries, as well as "where did I put that special, expensive charger?" It's bright, but so are flashlights that run on double AA's. Do not buy.

purchased from SMILINGLEAF LLC, READ THIS UPDATE!
Put 2 new Surefire 123Cs in it for the first time. It's even brighter than my Firefield Shotgun Tactical Light that is rated at 235 lumens. This flashlight literally may be brighter than the high beams on my Saturn SL-1. It is definitely the brightest flashlight I have ever seen. I also bought the pressure switch which works very well, which is more than I can say about the pressure switch that came with my Firefield. Unfortunately, the pressure switches are not interchangable. If they were, I'd buy another switch for the Firefield. The flashlight I received came in a plain white box with no instructions. The pressure switch came in a plain ziplock bag sans instructions also. The light does say Ultrafire on the side. The endcap threads and o-ring all fit up well. The light does get pretty hot within a couple of minutes so I'm not sure if it would survive a period of extended use. Fit and finish does lead me to believe that is weatherproof if not waterproof. I will probably order more.BTW, the Surefire batteries I ordered all have an expiration date of 10/2022 and are labelled "MADE IN USA".UPDATE: THE FLASHLIGHT DIED THE 2ND TIME I USED IT. AFTER ABOUT 5 MINUTES OF USE, IT QUIT FUNCTIONING. NOW, IF YOU TURN IT ON IN THE DARK, YOU CAN JUST MAKE OUT A FAINT GLOW AT THE BULB. I was using 2 Surefire CR123A BATTERIES WHEN IT DIED. I CHECKED THE BATTERIES AND THEY ARE FINE. REPLACED BATTERIES BUT GOT SAME RESULTS. DO NOT USE 2 CR123s WITH THIS LIGHT. IT WILL NOT SURVIVE.

Awesome piece of kit
Awesome piece of kit. You will be shocked at Joe bright this tiny torch is. I have an older version that I converted to LED but unfortunately does not take the 18650 rechargeable batteries. Buy the rechargeable batteries for this. You won't be disappointed.

Good flashlight
Good flashlight for typical everyday use. I don't know that this would be my 1st choice for tactical or patrol use.

It's Very Bright.
I love the fact that it is single click on off. You don't get a torch that changes from LO to HIGH then SOS then STROBE when you push the button. It's On or it's Off. It's very bright.
