It works great, but don't expect miracles
I bought this item last year and it helped me get all the original light strings lit on two pre-lit Christmas trees. One of them is about 10 years old, the other one is 5 years old.The trigger fix solution works great and will activate the shunts in strings where there are multiple failures. The trigger will not work if there are bulbs missing from their sockets, loose from their sockets or if the string was left to go "supernova". This happens when you neglect the string for so long that practically all the bulbs are burned out. These light strings are made of a bunch of low voltage lamps hooked up in series so they can run off of the 120V mains voltage without an expensive power pack transformer. In a typical 50 light string, each bulb is rated for about 2.5 volts. (100 and 200 lamp stings just have multiple 50 lamp strings) When a lamp goes out, the internal shunt fuses and allows the rest of the lamps to remain lit but the remaining lamps get a little more voltage. The more lamps that go out, the brighter the rest get and start burning out at an even faster rate because of the over voltage. Within a short period of time as the remaining bulbs fail, the rest get super bright for a short period (like a super nova star) before they all fail. If you look at the lamps and most of them are blackened, chances are every bulb in that string will need to be replaced. If it is a loose string, chuck it. But with pre-lit trees, there really is no choice but to replace all the bulbs.I find loose strings on sale and make sure the bulbs fit the sockets on my trees. It seems they change bases and bulb diameters from year to year just to mess us up and make us buy new trees and light strings.Do not use this device on LED strings as the high voltage pulse will destroy LED's. And while I'm talking about LED's, I just want to mention that I think LED light strings suck. They supposedly last 50,000 hours, yet I have strings a couple of years old that have burned out LED's. If you think finding replacement bulbs for conventional lights is bad, LED's are even worse. It doesn't seem like you can pop the LED lamp out of a base and swap it with another base. Every manufacturer is different. Keep buying regular lights because LED's are not worth the premium price, they still burn out, and I doubt it makes a noticeable difference in my electric bill. (it's not like I have millions of lights)Merry Christmas!

Quick Fix Trigger Method Works!
I had a section of lights not working on my prelit tree. Before buying the lightkeeper pro, I had tried replacing every light not working with no success. The "Quick Fix Trigger Method” did not work on the first bulb socket that I tried. I ended up using the "Audible Voltage Detector Method" to locate the problem area. I removed one of the bulbs from the socket and attached the lightkeeper pro. After 7-9 clicks with the trigger, the section of lights came back on and the problem was fixed.

Lite Keeper Pro
I would likely rate this a 5 star if it came free with a string of lights. I have thrown away strings of lights or been frustrated when they go out on the tree for years. I've said for the same number of years "I should buy one of those light testers". But when our relatively expensive wire formed lighted reindeer when half dark and my brother had given us an Amazon gift card for Christmas.....well, it was time. I am amazed...the thing works.....it is a better tool than I thought. I thought it would only identify the bad bulb.....it does much more. Some time after being amazed I was attempting to forward the advertisement to a friend as a recommendation. I read skeptical reviews from folks suspecting that so much praise from all users had to be fake. I hear ya. The above is not. It worked for me.

Can't believe how easy it was.
As you can see in the picture before and after. One click of the gun and the lights came on. I searched every bulb couldn't find anything. then I ran across this light keeper and did have my doubts about this product believing something so simple could fix it. Well to my surprise one click and it fixed the problem now all my lights work. I never have recommend anything but this is worth the few dollars it cost. Buy it you won't regret it

Did Not Work like they claimed
My husband was having trouble with the Christmas tree lights, we had heard about how wonderful this product was....Sooooo...off we go to try and find one. Looked everywhere but, of course, couldn't. Ordered it on line and it was delivered promptly. My husband was very disappointed because it certainly did not do what it claimed. Could not find out the problem with the lights (on two trees). Wound up buying a new tree. IF this item had worked to help fix the tree lights, we would have ordered more as gifts. Needless to say, we were both disappointed. We had read the reviews and expected it to work.

Although it was rough getting started, once we got it going it works great! Love the tool on the gun that helps pry the bulb from the light bulb base. It's kind of like a bottle opener. works great! I've got arthritis & I can work it fine. Since we'll probably use the gun only once a year at most, recommend keeping the white plastic tab where the batteries go so you can put it on before you store the gun. that way it won't drain the batteries. The instructions were difficult for me to follow, so I had a hard time getting started. There were a lot of 'if you have this type of lights, do this'; 'if you have this other type of lights, do this'. um, ok. I really don't know what kind of lights they are! I mean, we bought the tree over 10 yrs ago! In truth, it took days of off & on of re-reading the instructions & fiddling w/the gun to finally understand what we had to do.Additionally, I have pre-strung lights...I don't want to take them off to troubleshoot them...the beauty of having pre-strung lights is so you don't have to take them off before storing the tree. the instructions said to plug the strand directly into the outlet but it's difficult to drag the tree close enough to the outlet.at one point i put the gun down, went & did something else, but when i returned the battery piece was gone. it had fallen out & got hung in the tree somewhere (found it @ 1 hour later). maybe it was loose? dunno.quick shipping--received promptly.

Anyone who owns a pre-lit Christmas tree should own one of these!
This tool is amazing! I especially like the quick-fix trigger feature. I have fixed several strands of lights with this method, with one easy click. This tool will help you troubleshoot exactly why your lights aren't working. It is a must-have!!
