Great stripping basket a must have for surf fishing.

I don't use the neck strap. Seems unneeded and an extra point of annoyance. I can probably find a second use for it elsewhere. The hip belt works plenty well.I find that for my own use, I only filling about half of the holes with the silicone spikes works best.The top edge of the bucket might bang and rub on your fly rod and reel. I took some extra heavy duty packing tape and covered the top edge all the way around, even in the rod holder grooves. Now it have a bit less ability to scratch up my gear's (cheap) paint finish.It's also great have a work area where I can tie up new leaders or flies without taking my backpack off or losing my spot in the river.I took a pool noodle toy, like what many guys use for holding leaders, and use the hollow area inside to jam it onto one of the spikes in the stripping basket. It locks my leader foam tube into the basket and is easy to access such as when a Chinook salmon snaps me off on something and I need to get a new leader on ASAP.

I really like the price and function. Why pay more when this works perfectly! Also I LOVE that you can put it on your thigh if you want I use that frequently. My only reason for not giving 5 stars is because it says it comes with silicone spikes but I got none. If it had come with that it would be 5 stars all day

I was a little hesitant purchasing this strip basket due to some of the reviews. No rubber spikes, no drains holes, no Lifetime guarantee that you will land fish– why buy? However, when received I was delightfully surprised. The basket has improved on the Amazon comments received, so it appears. Both drain holes in the base and rod holder notch cut outs have been implemented. To add to the excitement... wait for it... they included the rubber spikes AND a lumbar support??????? Heavens to Betsy we’ve gone from six to midnight in 3.5 seconds! 110% guaranteed more fish landed. Haven’t used it.

I got to use this line basket once before the weather got too cold for me, but it did exactly what I needed it to do!I was fly fishing from a boat and until I got this basket my line was often getting tangled up on things!This basket kept my line safe and untangled!

Previous reviews complained on occasion that versions of this basket did not come as expected - they lacked the rod notches, silicone toppers, drainage holes, etc. Not sure what happened but it looks like the manufacturer listened and added all those little things. This basket is half the price of the Orvis branded one and will do the job great. It appears to be plenty large, tough enough and perfect for my need, which is fishing for stripers in Monterey Bay. Very pleased with my purchase all around!

I have made the upgrade to better suite a saltwater environment using cable ties . It allows the basket to be strapped to the lower leg. Instead of using the neck strap connect directly to an Icom Radio twist out buckle. Fits perfectly. If anything the cable ties need to be trimmed a bit shorter. Their stiffness really helps separate the line.With this upgrade I would give 5 stars

I ordered this basket as a last minute item for some surf fly fishing. It came the next day right before my trip, but it didn't come with the silicone spikes as advertised. Everything else was as expected (for the price), but I feel as though it would have fed line out more evenly with the silicone spikes.Do some DIY when you get it before you take it out. I drilled out the existing holes to 1/4" and made some additional holes because the existing holes don't allow the water in it to exit quickly enough, especially for that occasional wave that surprises you, and it'll bog you down quick.It is about as comfortable as it looks. For $35 you can't ask for much and it's just a piece of bare plastic riding your hip (aside from the wide webbing belt. I would be more careful if I used it wearing waders paying special attention to any wear and tear it was doing to my expensive waders.

Loght weight, easy to use and improved my casting distance significantly.
