Helps to get a good night's sleep
Very good at what it's designed to do. It allows good control over the amount of humidity to release so you can choose how much you want. It helped my kids sleep a lot better, especially after adding olbas oil to the essential oil reservoir.

Best humidifier I've bought!
We use this whenever our children or us adults have stuffy or blocked noses or colds and coughs. It makes a huge difference to their sleep. I've tried around 5 humidifiers and always end up binning them due to not being able to clean them properly. All except this one have been unable to be cleaned inside the actual water tank. This humidifier is brilliant. It is so easy to clean. I followed other advice to clean the water tank by putting a Milton sterilising tablet in it (I use half a tablet for size of tank). I use distilled white vinigar to clean the base of the unit. The water tank size can last over a whole evening. You can vary the intensity of the mist. You can also put the vicks pads in the side compartment but we prefer to use olbas oil in the blue tray for essential oils. The cable is long. I'd recommend using a dehumidifier in the room after use as otherwise there is a lot of moisture in the room which can cause mould. Would highly recommend this machine and I've tested so many! It is essential for us during colds and coughs. The price is also very reasonable.

possibly danger to cats?
arrived quickly, looks like it will work well but WARNING, I have just been informed (by vet) that these can be harmful to cats.Have used vick and similar for years and have always had cats but as this has come from a vet I believe it - think this perhaps should be more widely circulated as many many homes have cats. The fact that I have never noticed any impact on any cats over the years might be because of competing demands on my time (sick children with snotty noses tend to focus the mind) I have never realised any negative impact on my cats - possibly inadvertant neglect on my part or it didn't harm the cats! But thought this potential risk should be better advertised in case it effects your choices.

Large, serious humidifier
The media could not be loaded. This is a large humidifier that has superior an adjustatble output. It requires some setting up and although it's all in the instructions, these are not that easy to follow at first glance and I think that Vicks should revisit these. Once assembled (it's easier than the instructions lead you to think) the humidifier is ready for use.To use it, open the top - or take the top part to the tap and fill. It takes a huge amount of water around two litres to fill it up, connect the power and turn the knob to your required intensity. Unlike the myriad of cheap humidifers out there, this has a much large ultrasonic unit and at full blast gives off a lot of vapour. One area - or maybe two that it differs radically from all the others I've tried is using it with essential oils. Every other device I've used, you add these to the water; but Vicks tell you repeatedly not to, and will invalidate any warranty if it's used with these oils. Instead there's a recepticle that you can use which just heats them or you can use Vicks scented pads with a RRP of around eight pounds. These fit in the side - you can see this in the photos and the quick video I shot. The other area where it differs is that it tells you after three days to clean it and there are further weekly and monthly cleaning instructions in the documentation. It's a nice unit but big. Not being able to use essential oils, and relying on Vicks limited range of pads is something that looses it a star for me. I can see us using it however, for the cooling effect in the summer. If it's an high output humidifier you want this would be a good choice.
