A Road Map For Healthy Living
This book was easy to read and just packed with information. Once you read this book you will never feel the same way again about what you eat and how you feel. I sincerely wish that this book could be taught in every high school in the country. If this book was a mandatory course in school, our national health costs would drop significantly. This book not only describes the nutritional requirements of our bodies, but it explains: How our bodies work, What our bodies need, What we should eat, How it works to make us healthy, What supplements are available, and what the resulting nutritional benefits are (health, happiness, energy, concentration, improved brain function, and natural nutritional ways to mitigate against autism, Alzheimer's, ADHD, and Parkinson's Disease. We've heard for years that good nutrition will make us healthy, but this book explains precisely not only what good nutrition is (and it names names), but how and why it affects the body (for example, regarding energy, we all want more of it but this book tells us what energy is, where it is located in our bodies (a great surprise to me), and how it works. The information in this book represents a fundamental requirement for how to be happy & healthy as we go through life - Literally a road map for healthy living.

Amen to Dr. Amen
Your brain - is you. Yet in some very real ways it is the most overlooked and taken for granted of all of our body parts. If dysfunction is suspected or actually manifested in criminal, antisocial or self-destructive behaviors, you could find yourself in "treatment," jail or locked into a life of private pain and misery. Treatment generally means drugs to quell any obnoxious or dangerous behaviors. "Take 2 or 20 and call me in the morning if you can find the phone." How is it, Amen asks, that the brain - the most important organ in the human body - is so routinely ignored? Medical practitioners would not think of treating any other body parts in such a cavalier manner. If you have a blockage or breakage or suspected neoplasm, it is straight to the diagnostic machines for you to poke, prod and scan all the parts in question and deliver images where the doctors can not see. Dr. Amen and his clinical staff LOOK at real brains in action and in trouble with scanning technology that should be routine practice in every mental health clinic in the country. After some 50,000 such scans Amen knows his stuff - what the human brain looks like in health and sickness. Yes you can see such things. His conclusion is that nearly all of us could use a little (or a lot) of help! This book shows the way like no other I have ever seen. Not with drugs first but using natural substances and techniques to balance and heal brains hobbled by abuse, injury and neglect. Better brains, better lives, better world! You will not regret reading this book. It is for all who want to be the best they can be. Bravo Dr. Amen! Heart and mind felt thanks for this book and all the others you have written in a true service to humanity!

Unleash Your Brain's Potential
This is a most revealing book by Dr. Daniel Amen about how our brain functions, and how to maximize our brain's potential. Dr Amen is a clinical neuroscientist, psychiatrist and brain imaging expert and he writes from 20 years experience treating patients at Amen Clinics across America using SPECT brain imaging to analyze his patients brain function. SPECT is Single Photon Emission Computed Tomography brain scan which measures blood flow and activity patterns. Dr. Amen explains the benefits for our brains of proper diet, natural supplements, vitamins, exercise, thinking habits and medication. Dr Amen discusses how to deal with memory problems, anxiety, depression, ADD, and insomnia. This book has helped me and my family. Review by Dino Quintanilla, Garland, Texas; 15 Oct, 2009.

Fascinating insight into the brain
I found this book to be a great reference book for me. I must add that I did not read it cover to cover. It had solid insight for me into what effects the brain in positive and negative ways. It also had a simple test , that several of my friends and I took. We found the test to be insightful. It did make me change some of my dietary habits. If you want to know what to do to assist you in a positive way, how you think this is the book for you.

Miracle in our life
3 years ago I happened to come across the cd. My husband upon listening had us go buy the hard copy. To make a long story short our son has suffered from ADD/ depression and has been 'stuck' since graduating from high school. He finally got a scan and we found out items that made sense but we would have never figured out without the scan. He feels better then he ever has and is so excited for every day. If you have questions about the scan please feel free to message me. It's scary to cough up that much money for something not recognized by the APA or NAMI. But it was worth every penny- actually it is worth way more.

Read about this b ook so decided to buy it..
I read about this book, someone was saying how great it was, and since I am getting older (in age) I thought it might be good. I read the first chapter, and got sidetracked from it and have yet toget back. It has a lot of pictures of brain scans (normal and abnormal, before and after and such) which the average person wouldn't have on their own, maybe have to go to the author's clinic or a doctor to get? Didn't seem like anything new, in the parts I read so far, what to do to help the brain... drink more water, get more sleep, eat better, take Omega3 fish oil, not more than so many hours a day of computer or TV, and such. Not sure if people who are low income could do this (buying expensive food and supplimeents) and some people work on a computer for a job. I don't know what it got to after that. The book seemed poorly printed, too, like the pictures of the brain scans weren't too sharp and clear. Someone who isn't a docotr or trained to read brain scans might not know what to look or and the difference in them. Maybe if I read more of it, I'd get more out of it, and maybe this is just me. I bought it used and didn't pay a lot, so not a big deal.

A Stellar Look Into Maintaining The Human Mind.
Intelligence is usually viewed as something that is inherited at birth and is not taught or refined by the individual. With the research and knowledge this book contains, it gives an excellent view into the way the mind operates, and gives light to how we might incorporate different methods into our lives of enabling our brains full potential, which many of us are starving it of on a regular basis. Having read the book thoroughly and adapted most of it's philosophies into my everyday life, I do feel my mind is more dexterous and flexible than it was beforehand. This book won't make you intelligent, but it'll enable it's growth and full capabilities. The biggest factor of our lives that we repeat which starves our brain is our diet and thought patterns, once you understand how to control these two factors, the rest becomes common sense on the most part. It's a wonder why these findings haven't been brought into the public's attention yet and why more attention is not being paid here, as the effects can quite vividly be felt and to call them life changing would not be an overstatement. After having been quite an intelligent student, capable of learning with ease and having a capable memory as well as being able to multitask with my thinking, I somehow denied myself of these capabilities and lost these abilities. After applying the methods described here, I felt like my old self once again, again I stress; it was due to poor diet and crippling thought processes/patterns that I had gotten into a bad habit of establishing that I suffered the way I did. Once I put the Soda down, ate better, stared less at a tv/computer monitor, I began to feel my mind becoming more capable as it felt before I became the junk-food gamer I once was.
