I really enjoy reading books like this. There is so much good information in this work. This is the second book I have read from Nicholas Orr. It was recommended by Paul Markel whose work I also respect, enjoy and learn from. After I finished the book, I looked closer at the cover photo. :)

I wasn’t going to recommend book two til I read it, and now I have. Encouraging in the training and organizational details it provides, frightening in pointing out that right now there are too damn few of us treating preparing for chaos as a lifestyle and not a hobby to be dabbled in.

I would highly recommend this to anyone who is just starting to get into the organizational, equipment, and personnel needs of a Citizen Defense Corps. It's an excellent introduction to the subject and offers a variety of viewpoints on how to leverage people and equipment when available.If you consider yourself "moderate" or "advanced" on the subject matter, this may be a pass, but the basics are never bad to reinforce and work on.

Full of information on training and leading citizens in times of crisis. Hopefully put this info to use before any kind crisis hits your area.

This book will help lead you through a journey to organize your community to survive in good times and bad.You will gain knowledge in how to organize and train with your neighbors. You will learn the why’s too.There are many great lessons in this book. The best part about the kindle version is you get the color pictures, and the hyperlink’s to all the footnotes.

If you and your friends have the time and want to learn. This is just as good a spot to start as any. However you may want to go to the source for a bit of group instruction.
