Olivia . . . and the Missing Toy

This, plus 2 additional Olivia and 1 Peppa Pig, all for my precious youngest grandchild’s fifth birthday. They are all a hit. So glad they came in so quickly. Thanks Amazon!

I love this book and decided to purchase for my daughter. She loves the dark creepy cover art. She calls it a scary book. A fun idea for an almost 3 year old. I ordered with ease as always on amazon but when I received this it had different cover art than pictured. It had Olivia lifting a green couch, against a white background, looking for her toy underneath. Cute, yes, but not what I ordered. The stormy night with black background is pictured and that is the cover art I wanted. I heard from a local bookstore that the stormy night art is the original artwork that the book came out with but that the white background with the couch is the new artwork. Whether or not Amazon has both in stock I don't know. I was told I'd have to order it again and see what I get and then they would check on it..this to me is a waste of my time, shipping resources, and it's longer that we don't have the book that we want. I opted to return it and find it somewhere else, Ebay. I love Amazon but in this case I do wish they could of just looked into it for me rather than make me go through the order process again. They are potentially featuring something they don't have in stock, that should be enough reason to look into it asap.

The Olivia series of books is simply wonderful. Olivia is a very independent, strong-willed little pig who is not afraid of anything and the result is truly entertaining and very comical. My children love this book the best because it is very well written and with just the right emphasis on certain wording when I read it, they roll on the floor giggling hysterically. My daughter walks around quoting the book out loud as she has most of the book memorized because the children have asked me to read it to them so many times.

My 3-1/2 year old granddaughter loves the Olivia books. I think this is her favorite story, and we read this episode a lot. It is very real-life humor when the mom does all the work, and Olivia is so appreciative of her Dad instead. Highly recommend. Bought a used, hard-cover edition, and it was in terrific condition.

My daughter loves the original Oliva story so much, we actually had to buy her a new one because her old one was falling apart from being read so many times! Olivia and the Missing Toy is just as entertaining! As always Olivia is doing her thing with a flare for the dramatic & a bit of humor! And the illustrations are wonderful! I think I love reading Olivia as much as my daughter and I am 23 :) A must have for any child's book collection!

Our 3 year old daughter loves Ian Falconer's Olivia books. This is probably her favorite. I was surprised to see some of the negative reviews, as I feel the overall theme is forgiveness (not ungratefulness). This story is a great way to teach children that life is too short to hold grudges.

I thought this would be more like a hide and seek book. More about Olivia whining, plus one very scary picture.I ended up not giving it to my impressionable 3-year old.

Olivia has become one of my daughter's favorite books. She loves to be spooked by the shadow. Great story line, unpredictable, accompanied by great drawings. Its an awesome read.

Este libro fue un regalo de Navidad de unos amigos ingleses, y resultó ser una grata sorpresa... Nos encantó por igual a mayores y a pequeños, y, tras descubrir a la simpátiquísima Olivia, hemos ido comprando los otros títulos de la colección... Con Olivia los niños aprenden inglés, mientras se parten de risa con los estupendos dibujos de Falconer, y con el texto que tan bien acompaña. Me alegra ver que también se ha traducido al castellano. ¡Lo recomiendo!

今までの洋書の絵本のなかでは最高です！はっきり言って、ほかのOLIVIAのシリーズも全部いいです！可愛いし、笑えるし、あらすじもわかりやすく、日本人にも理解しやすいストーリーです。カバーはデザイン性もあるので、絵の変わりに飾っているくらいです。もちろん子供の英語レッスンにも使います！
