It's a great fire poker. The weight and heft is just right. Well made and good quality is what I was looking for and got. About 3/4 of the price of a similar model at my local big box store.

Let’s be clear, this poker is made for portability not for daily use. It’s compact, lightweight, and easy to assemble. It moves logs around the fire pit easily. The hook is a good size. The handle is comfortable to hold. And the poker stabs nicely. We used it nightly for a week on our last camping trip, letting it rest on the rim of the pit, and it held up perfectly. The only thing you need to watch out for is that it will unscrew itself, just be aware of which direction you are torquing it and there’s no problem.I bought it based on its compact travel size and the low price, I’m very happy with it. It’s made it into the permanent camping gear pile. I definitely recommend it.

As long as you aren’t using full size fire logs, this tool will work. Unfortunately, because of the thin gauge metal used and because of the center connection (it comes in two parts), it bends and flexes when you try moving heavier logs. The major design flaw in this tool was making it a 2-piece tool. They should have left the shaft as one long piece. I think having it break down into two pieces is for portability. I have a back yard fire pit, so it won’t be going anywhere. When this one breaks, I will purchase a thicker and more robust tool made of pot metal or a thicker gauge of steel.

Can’t beat it for the price! Super easy assembly! Very pleased with the product!

Updated : one month later. It is totally stripped and does not stay together.I was initially worried because the poker was in two pieces, but once you put it together it’s very strong and sturdy. So far so good!
