Q: Will this work with an automatic vacuum? I have a Hayward.

I am not sure-it has one end for vac hose about 1 3/4” before it bezels wider. The other end is smooth for 2”.

The hose ID is 1-1/2 inch. The cuff if slightly under sized so that it will grip a barbed fitting. The collar at the cuff is nominally 2 inches.

Q: What kind of vacuum do you attach to it?

you don't attach a vacuum cleaner. the swimming pools that are large enough to require a water filter system have either a vacuum or return port or a connection port in the surface skimmer that the vacuum hose can be connected to.
