Sci-fi thriller based on an early story by Stephen King (under pseudonym, Richard Bachman) - Los Angeles in the year 2017 has become a police state in the wake of the global economy's total collapse. THE RUNNING MAN is the top-rated TV show, where condemned criminals are given a chance for freedom by running through a gauntlet of heavily armed killers known as Stalkers, the shows stars. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars Ben Richards, an ex-cop wrongly convicted of the massacre of unarmed civilians. He's joined by fellow prisoners Yaphet Kotto and Maria Conchita Alonso as they try to survive Stalkers, Fireball (Jim Brown), Captain Freedom (Jesse Ventura), Subzero (Toru Tanaka), Buzzsaw (Gus Rethwisch) and Dynamo (Erkabd Van Lidth). The all-star cast includes rockers Mick Fleetwood and Dweezil Zappa as revolutionaries and Richard Dawson (The Family Feud) as the show's smarmy host.

great movie
It's the running man. This is actually a screen play based on a novel by Stephen King under his Richard Bachman pseudonym. The quality of this version is very nice and you get a ton of old Arnie's one-liners.

Here Lies Sub Zero, Now Regular Zero
The Running Man is one of those quintessential 1980s Arnold movies that is full of quotes and fun.Based on the short story by Richard Bachman (secretly Stephen King), and though I never read the book, the movie is more based than a retelling. Arnold Schwarzenegger stars as Ben Richards, a man falsely accused to murdering civilians and earning the nickname The Butcher of Bakersfield. He is forced to compete on a game show that is run by the sadistic Damon Killian, played by the over the top Richard Dawson. Chaos ensues, fun is had, cheesy quotes are quoted. The 4k version of this movie looks amazing, the sound is great, and its a movie to watch over and over again and quote.

18-24-61-B...dang what were the rest?
This is an essential Arnold (and Maria) movie. Richard Dawson also gives us a terrific alternate-universe version of himself. I (and I suspect others) like to view this movie and Total Recall back-to-back.You will likely have a pretty good idea of this movie's plot already, so aside from testing your memory on remembering the main satellite uplink's deactivation code, I'll add that this 4K version seems to make full-use of a 4K television's pixels. I don't have any older 1080i/1080p Blu-Ray version of this movie to compare, but I do still have my older DVD version to compare to, and there is no question of the higher quality video image. While my Sony UBP-X800 4K player provides excellent upscaling from DVD, playing this native 4K disc was noticeably better to my eyes, particularly in faster-moving action sequences such as when the rocket cart careens the 'contestants' down in to the 20 block game zone.I didn't really use any special features yet, but I should note that Paramount is currently including a free digital movie version to stream anywhere in this otherwise boxed disc (good until 5/23/2025). Read the terms, and note you will need a high-speed internet connection. I'm not sure if the movie can be loaded onto a tablet and watched later, say on an airplane, but it's a nice throw-in.I think the last two numbers were 17-4?? And now, I think I'll go to visit Mars, for...two weeks.
