A Personal Memoir Is Never Easy To Handle When It's Traumatic!!!
This Is Indeed An Extremely Intense And Tensely Thought Provoking Book. What Makes It Chillingly Eerie Is That This Is Not Just An Impressive Well Researched Work Of Fiction But Is Actually A First Person Memoir And It’s That Fact That Strikes Without Mercy Drilling In The Cold Fact That Depression Is A Great Leveller Which Can Strike Anyone, Anywhere At Anytime Without Any Mercy Or Worse Without Any Notice Or Any Tell-Tale Symptoms To Prepare The Patient Or Their Loved Ones For What Lies Ahead. It’s The Long Haul Ahead And The Battle That Goes On In The Head Is What Is Truly Crushing. One Cannot Help Wondering If Those Captions To Each Chapter Or The Personal Notes Of The Author Shaheen Bhatt Placed Bang In The Middle Of The Page As Also The Shifting Typeface That Makes It Almost Impossible To Read Her Thoughts Clearly Is Actually Deliberate Or Is Reflective Of Her Constant Mood Swings As And When She Puts Pen To Her Private Diary To Capture Her Turbulent Moods And Permanently Arrest Them Onto This Book.Considering The Turbulence That Shaheen Bhatt Reflects On While Sharing Her Pain And Dejection With Her Readers While Battling The Trauma Of Her Illness Can Be Disturbing But It Only Gives A Fraction Of A Glimpse Of What Shaheen Not Just Battled With But Has Had To Live With For Most Of Her Growing Years And Worse Even Now The Battle Isn’t Over For Her Nor Can She Say She Has Successfully Put It Behind Her To Now Live Happily Ever After Because Sadly The Bitter Truth Is That This Is An Ongoing Battle That One Maybe Able To Live With In Cycles Without Ever Knowing What Is In Store Just Round The Corner And What Can Trigger Of The Next Panic Attack To Drag The Victim Down The Dark Never Ending Cesspool Of Frustration And Mental Trauma.Even Though Mahesh Bhatt Does Not Spell It Out In So Many Words In His Moving Foreword To This Book For His Daughter Shaheen. His Silent Pain Of Being Helpless And Unable To Contain Or Reduce The Silent Misery In Any Which Way Gives Glimpses Of What The Family Especially The Parents Have To Go Through Putting Up A Brave Face Even When Emotions Play Havoc Deep Within When No Solace Seems In Sight.Time And Again Shaheen Bhatt Between Her Erratic Mood Swings Strongly Emphasis In No Uncertain Terms That The Purpose Of Penning This Book Was In No Way To Seek Self Pity But To Let Others In The Same Boat As Her Stop Blaming Themselves For The Plight They Find Themselves In. As More Than Medication And Counselling The Mental Demons That Haunt The Patience Behind Locked Doors On Dark Never Ending Nights Is Where The Most Crucial Battle Has To Be Fought. One Disturbing Thought That Kept Haunting Me Right Across This Memoir Was The Constantly Nagging Question That Mahesh Bhatt Who Has Never Ever Shied From Turning The Mirror Upon Himself And His Loved Ones To Make Compelling Thought Provoking Films Inspired By Events Straight Out Of His Life Would He Actually Be Able To Take The Baton Forward And Make An Intense Film Based On His Daughter’s Memoir In All Honesty By Pulling Out All Stops Which Has Been The Hallmark Of His Kind Of Personalised Cinema That Would Be The Perfect Tribute To The Silent Battles That His Daughter Shaheen Bhatt Has Been Fighting For Endless Years Behind Closed Doors!!!

The book is real life experiences of the Author... It's not teaching you anything rather than it's lighting the experience of a person who has experienced Depression....The topic still needs lots of lightning as there are so many myths about this..And in some part the topic of depression doesn't even exist...Shaheen has written her experiences with depression...She was suffering from it for the longest time even before they found out that what she was suffering is Depression..This is my first ever book on depression or mental health..I still won't be able to talk about it as I am not well aware of the topic but if you are trying to learn about Depression I'll recommend this book✌🏻"𝘐 𝘥𝘰𝘯'𝘵 𝘸𝘳𝘪𝘵𝘦 𝘢𝘣𝘰𝘶𝘵 𝘮𝘺 𝘦𝘹𝘱𝘦𝘳𝘪𝘦𝘯𝘤𝘦𝘴 𝘸𝘪𝘵𝘩 𝘥𝘦𝘱𝘳𝘦𝘴𝘴𝘪𝘰𝘯 𝘵𝘰 𝘥𝘦𝘧𝘦𝘯𝘥 𝘵𝘩𝘦 𝘭𝘦𝘨𝘪𝘵𝘪𝘮𝘢𝘤𝘺 𝘰𝘧 𝘮𝘺 𝘱𝘢𝘪𝘯. Most Honest and Raw picture of people suffering from Depression
This book provides the most raw and honest description of what it is to live with 'Depression' and what exactly 'Depression' is like. The author lays out the vivid description and insight into the lives of people living with depression - of what they feel, what they go through, what they want everything. This book further busts the myths and skepticism concerning the cause, effects and recovery from Depression.Kudos to the author for pulling out with this book, and giving every person suffering from depression the voice they need, the things they want the world to understand but can't get the words for. This is an empowering book for such people. This book, I pray much, starts the much needed conversation about Depression (Mental Health in general) in our society. If you are one suffering from depression or want to know more about it, go ahead pick up the book. You can also gift the book to someone you know who's suffering from depression, trust me it's going to be the best gift ever for them.

A dive into the world of depression and the struggles of teenage life
A book by Shaheen Bhatt which got me closer and connected to the stigma of mental health and how it is still considered a taboo in this so called modern society of ours.It goes on to describe the mental traumas and problems a person faces when they are suffering from depressionIt vividly describes the insecurities, biasing, jealousy, anger and all the feelings that an adolescent feels and the world of confusion and manic that they enter when faced with depressionThis book also highlights every teenager faces in their day to day life and the coping problems with themThe role of a boyfriend/girlfriend, effects of alcohol, substance abuse and the dangers of clinging onto them for a momentarily escape are an important lesson for every teenager going through such problemsAlthough Shaheen Bhatt has done a marvelous job illustrating the feelings and what it feels like to go through such problems, she however does not focus much on how to deal with the symptoms of depression.Pros: This books helps you to understand the problems and stigmas a teenager faces and the small insecurities one might feelCons: The book is quite elaborate in it's dynamism of discussing the problem, but a conclusive ending describing the process of healing and dealing with the problem is not discussed enough

A must read for all.
One of the very few books that channelizes the feelings of pain/depression into words. Very heavy to read. But you feel lighter knowing that there is someone out there who knows what you feel.

HIGHLY RECOMMEND!!
Before I picked up this book, I knew it would be a difficult read. Any book surrounding the topics depression and anxiety is often quite heavy for me and I read with tears in my eyes.◇This book does a great job in highlighting the effects of depression. I didnt expect it to be so educational but it was. I admire Shaheen's confidence in writing this book. She does not hesitate in outlining her experience with depression which she has experienced for nearly 20 years. The pain is evident within these pages and I found myself crying when reading parts of her experience because the suffering was very much painful to read about.◇I have read many books on depression and despite that fact, I've realised that they all differ from one another. Even when people experience the same symptoms that often come with depression, their experience is anything but alike and this fact intrigues me which is why I will continue to read books surrounding this topic. No one's experience is the same which also makes depression that much harder to understand.◇Please note that if you intend on reading this book, it does cover sensitive topics such as suicidal thoughts, depression and anxiety. The author does not shy away from detailing her experience so please keep this in mind.◇With that being said, I recommend this book to everyone. Whether you have experienced depression or want to know more about one's experience with depression, I truly believe this book is a great place to start.

I think to speak so openly about your experiences, in it self is a huge success. Not many people could speak up about what’s happening and how they seek medical help. So for me as a trained medical professional this is a huge accomplishment. Shaheen should be proud.. I pray this allows others to be able to seek help with confidence and speak out without being judged in society. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
