RAISING 4-point shelf Review
RAISING ELECTRONICS Fixed Rack Server Shelf is “the” solution for heavy gear that you want to be level. The RAISING shelf allows secure adjustment so it can be perfectly level front-to-back and side-to-side. Front mount shelves costing the same amount cannot say that. Unless the shelf is mounted in all 4 corners or is made of very thick metal, it is going to sag or flex in the back with heavy gear on it causing your gear to lean backward. If the level is important to you, then consider this RAISING 4-point shelf. I currently have 4 of the RAISING ELECTRONICS Fixed Rack Server Shelves and they are perfectly level in every use-case. I tried a Star-Tech front mount shelf costing the same amount because it would be easier to mount. It cost the same as the RAISING ELECTRONICS Fixed Rack Server Shelf, but I figured since the star-tech was rated for 50lbs, it could easily handle 18lbs. It could not. The back of the front mount shelf sagged or flexed by 5 degrees. I know 5 degrees may not sound like much but look at the attached photos. In the case of equipment that needs to be level, this was not what I expected from a $45 shelf claiming 50lbs capacity, so I had to return the star-tech shelf. I ordered another RAISING 4-point shelf and it’s exactly what I needed. Perfect level and no problems. If you have light-weight items, then a front mount shelf costing half as much as the RAISING will do fine. If you do not care if it sags in the back, then a front-mount is fine. But if the level matters in your use-case, you want the RAISING 4-point shelf. The price is fair for what you get compared to other products. My RAISING 4-point shelves are supporting gear each weighing up to 50lbs and the support is perfect with zero concern about sagging, flexing or failing. PRO-TIP #1: Measure your depth needed. I needed 24” depth so I ordered the 21.5-28Inch Depth. You want as much overlap as possible. If you need 19” deep, the only option is the 14-20.5Inch Depth but your overlap is very small. If you are in that camp, plan to level and tighten your extension screws very tightly. Space the screws as much as possible. I would also add lock washers, and I would also consider upgrading the bolts for the extension arms that are easier to get very tight such as an Allen-head or socket-head bolts. You need 2 screws in each extension arm to stay in place without shifting. PRO-TIP #2: If you must mount the RAISING shelf to a standing rack, then you can fully mount the front extensions and loosely mount the back extensions with one screw until it’s in place, then rotate them into place, assemble the back extensions with 2 screws each and start leveling. If the rack is new and laying on it back, that is the easiest, but you will still need to level it once it’s standing upright. In summary: I love these RAISING shelves and would not hesitate to order more for my Home-Theater rack which holds a lot of heavy gear.

Not easy to adjust. Be patient, get extra hands
The quality of the shelf is fine. I needed a 26" depth to hold 2-UPS on a server rack. No issues with weight. However, the slide brackets don't adjust to 26" and allow the screw holes to line up on the shelf. They are either too long, or too short. To get the depth adjustment, I had to place the support screws next to each other. I wish I had a picture to show this. So, decent quality material, poor spacing on the extension bracket screw holes.

High Quality for reasonable price
I do think the network product market is a bit overpriced, so I can't claim that the prices on this particular shelf is perfect. But it's a heck of a lot more reasonable than some of the other brands that are of about the same quality but sell for 40% higher prices. This rack shelf is sturdy once all the bolts have been tightened. The depth is adjustable (shelf itself is fixed depth, but the extensions from the shelf to front and back rack posts are adjustable). Once bolted in with two each bolts at each of the four corners, this shelf was able to hold my 30-pound AV receiver with no problem -- no sagging, no movement, no sway. I liked the first two I purchased so much, I ordered a third one for the rest of my entertainment rack.

Measure carefully, front and rear.
Measure carefully! This shelf kit fits a variety of rack systems. Does include hardware. Good price and was available to ship right away.

Flimsy
It says it's rated for 175 lbs, but I wouldn't trust it any more than it weighs. I mounted it on the rack and put a tower server on it. It immediately sags to the middle like a worn-out mattress. I have a 30" rack, and the adjustable rails look like they want to bend and bow out. The equipment is heavy, but not 175 lbs heavy and I do not trust this shelf to hold it for any time.

Well built
The shelf is heavy duty and well made. Highly recommended.

Didn't work for me
I bought three of these for rack mounted batteries that weigh 100lbs each. These are rated at 150lbs each. When I assembled them, the holes did not line up correctly with my rack, and when the batteries were slid in, they started to bend at the joint where they were screwed together. I did not feel comfortable with three of these high voltage batteries on shelves that looked like they could not hold the weight. Unsafe in my opinion. Unfortunately, I returned them for a refund. They will work great for lighter loads, but not for heavy units. I had to rate these at two stars.

Good rack accessory
Good fit for my 24 inch deep rack. Simple, and at a great price. Bought two of these, and both were received in great condition with all the screws, nuts and rack nuts.

At full extension, the shelf sags as the extending ...
At full extension, the shelf sags as the extending arms are a little loose at longer lengths; some gaps either end which are a little unsightly. Ultimately however, it is serviceable and basically as one would imagine from looking at the pictures. Turns out I have my rack at 29" depth though, so this was a little bit short for my use, but I removed the back arms and rested the back on a 2U shelf mounted to the backside of the rack. This let me shorten the front end so it's at the front of the rack; worked out in the end. I have a 40lb A/V receiver on this and it is quite solid mounted this way (though still, I used some thin wire to support the mid-point to the top of the rack, just in case). It's a bit of a work-around, I had intended to use a proper shelf for the receiver but timelines and availability denied me, so made do!
