My At-Home Salon
I've had locs for 10 years and I never washed my hair myself until the Covid19 pandemic. I would always go to the salon, have my hair washed and retwisted and that was that.My locs are quite long and though I've watched my beautician do my hair, I never felt the need to learn how to do the process myself.Well...as we know, Covid19 changed everything.I watched countless YouTube videos on how to wash and retwist my hair and decided to try the process on my own.I ordered this dryer and hoped for the best. This dryer works great! It gets super hot though so be careful. Considering that it takes hours to retwist all my hair, by the time I'm done, most of my hair has already air dried. But, sitting under this dryer for about an hour after the retwist works wonders. My locs look great and because of the "rona, I'll be doing my hair at home for the foreseeable future.

Solid 4 stars - better than reviews say!!
1st I want to say that I am NOT an AMZ employee nor an affiliate (although I could probably make a LOT of money on this one if I was!), nor was I given money or a free product to review this item. Honestly, Im not sure why some are giving such horrible reviews on this product, I feel like they are people trying to get their own product to sell better maybe? For me and my shoulder blade length, thick, naturally curly hair - it has been a game changer. 30 minutes on medium (Medium which is: warm, high air flow) or 15 minutes (high which is hot/high air flow) dries my hair from dripping wet, with volume clips all over my head, to dry! The same for a hand held on the same settings (which also burned my head if held in the same spot too long) was 1 hr+ and 45 minutes+ respectively. The "machine" folds up to be pretty compact (the cord even has a specific place under the hood) and totally fits on a shelf in my closet. Although you wouldnt take this on an airplane for a vacation, if you wanted to to do your Mom's or friend's hair, you can easily pick it up by its handle and put it into your car. Its not sold as a traveling dryer. I would guess it weighs like 5 - 6 lbs. It has 3 levels of heat: low, medium and high. The air flow on all 3 is the same (high) on all 3 settings- which I find perfect. Only the temp gets hotter at as the setting increases. It is NOT any louder than a hand held dryer and I think my hand held is actually louder. It is WAY more quiet than bonnet dryers of the "olden days" that my Mom had. It IS adjustable with regard to height (in the back there are 3 choices of height). I sit on a pillow instead. It IS made of plastic but I dont feel it is any "cheaper" or lower quality than any other hard bonnet dryer out there (and I read ALL the reviews before buying lol). The bonnet has holes all over inside and they stop about 2 inches from the edge of the bonnet. hair blows through all of them evenly. I do have to lean my head down, in front, to dry the back of my head because my hair is longer. There is an ION button if you choose to use it (I do). I did take off one star because the catch for the bonnet is plastic and you have to push it back pretty stiffly to get it to catch. But Ive never had it fall down and hit me in the head when hitched properly. Certainly not a deal breaker, just something to be aware of being a little careful with it. It would have been better and probably would last longer if that one part was made of metal instead of plastic though. I will probably put duct tape of the bonnet catch, if it starts slipping, to tighten it up again. Seems like an easy fix, by the company, just to put a piece of aluminum on the bonnet and the base where they connect. To prevent it wearing out I leave the dryer up until it is completely cool and then gently put it down. So far, no problems and it still latches with a pretty loud CLICK when properly in place. Best $50 bucks Ive spent on hair products EVER!

i love it!
I was skeptical that it would be flimsy and cheap based on other reviews and maybe I got lucky but no broken pieces. It is plastic but seems sturdy, especially if you're handling it carefully. I've used it the past two weekends and it's amazing! My hair is so thick but this gets very hot. Air holes are allover the inside but don't come all the way to the end of the bowl. Easy to use. Folds up conveniently. 2nd best purchase I've made on my hair in a longg time (behing the detangling brush) :)
