Great for the do it yourselfer's
had to repair an Inglis side by side refrigerator freezer that was leaking at the water inlet valve. I replaced this component and the dual water valves. Worked great was in and out in 15 min. Make sure though to "seat" the outlet tubing well, meaning really push it into the housing.

Nessessary evil of a disposable society.
It is what it is... A junk part installed into these refrigerators to create maintenance. Like the other "push to connect" "shark bite" fittings they just go bad after a while and are expensive to replace. Yes, it works. I thought of bypassing it altogether.

Fixed leaking water dispenser in Whirlpool side by side refrigerator.
Fixed a dripping water dispenser in a Whirlpool side by side refrigerator. Much cheaper than the Whirlpool part and works perfectly. I would suggest looking at several available Youtube videos about the replacement. Much easier than I thought it would be.
