The 3 layers stack up. You take the layers and twist your right hand away as you twist your left hand towards you. The 3 layers will twist into a small circle. Just like a car sunscreen for the front window. However, these layers are much sturdier, so be careful when twisting them into a smaller circle. It will pop open! There is a case they go into after they are folded.

Q: Can you hang this on a clothes line?

Well the hook is pretty big I hung mine on a 2 inch diameter dowel that hung from the ceiling. I used it once and found it to be a challenge to use. Then my husband and I tried to fold it up to put back in it's storage sack. We gave up!! After following the directions 6 times and we still couldn't get it folded up right! I threw it away. There has to be something better on the market.

Yes, I hang it on a free standing clothes bar. Not sure if you could hang it in a closet, though. Definitely could hang it on a shower curtain rod as well.

Too difficult to describe how to fold. Also, I feel the thickness of the wire frame will not stand up to the frequency of my needing to fold, so I store it just collapsed and flat against a closet wall. I’ll guarantee you it will last longer and avoid frustration that way!
