Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Grass Seed, Feed and Coir, 1015 g, Green

I had two problem areas on my 1 year old lawn; one, an area around one edge where the soil had baked in a recent (and big!) heatwave, killing all the grass in a roughly 4ft square area - and a couple of dinner plate sized patches where a fox had kindly peed on the lawn - murdering the grass and making the place smell of fust (ahhh, nature). I didnt really know what the best product to go for was, but as this was kind of an "all in 1" I thought Id start with this; and I have to say Im really happy with it; the grass was sprouting within 3 days, the patches "filled" in 2 weeks (though the grass was still very tender and could easily be pulled out with no resistance for up to 4 weeks. (I tried going over a very small area when mowing the lawn - it just tore the new patch right out the ground and I had to re-retreat it!) 8 weeks later though, its as though there was never any damage. The only thing that makes it stand out as being "repaired", is that in the two treated areas, the grass is a significantly lighter green and the blades are notably thicker (though my guess is that the seed used in this is a different grass species to my original turf - and that over time, as the lawn continues to mature and seed itself, this will blend out a bit so will be less striking). Personally Im not THAT bothered by this - it looks a damn sight better than the dead brown! but in hindsight, I would maybe have tried to scatter some of this into the healthy lawn too, so the new and old grasses blended less obviously. Meh. Point is, might just be worth checking your grass species if this sort of thing is likely to wind you up! My ONE tiny grumble is that for the cost, you dont get a huge amount, but then you are supposed to use this as a patch treatment - not a full lawn cover; its just that if you have a large lawn or several patches to treat it could turn out quite costly. That being said, for small patches I would 100% recommend it, and I wouldnt hesitate to buy it again if another fox incident occurs!

This is good for deeper holes in lawn, but does grow quite slowly and the grass is quite thin. I did a side by side comparison vs fast growing grass seed where the ground was the same level and the seed was actually faster grwiing and thicker. So orice wise, not quite a as value as normal fast growing seed. See pics, the seed is the thicker one, with both put down at the same time and watered the same way.

This product is absolutely fantastic. I ordered it and received delivery on Saturday, May 23rd. I dug up and resoiled a large patch of my lawn, which I underestimated and ended up spending the entire day on. Fast forward to today, June 3rd, and the lawn is growing amazingly fast a few days ahead of schedule. I'm thoroughly impressed with how great this product is and can't recommend it enough. A big tip for large patches, make sure to dig well, twist the fork to open the soil, and remove all the hardened, broken soil. Then, add some topsoil on top for the best germination. For those reporting poor results, it's likely your soil preparation that needs improvement.

Not a miracle but kinda works. It does help fill in bare patches, just not as fast or as thick as the box makes it look. Easy to spread, holds moisture well and you can see new growth starting after a bit of patience. Versatility is good — handy for dog spots, worn areas, edges of the lawn or anywhere that needs a quick repair. Keeping it damp makes a big difference, otherwise it dries out too quickly. For the price, it’s decent value — not perfect, but it does the job if you give it time.

Absolutely useless and doesn’t work. Impossible to get a refund as it’s on the lawn and can’t be replaced. 12 days ago used and not a sprout. Followed instructions to the letter

Miracle-Gro Patch Magic Grass Seed is fantastic! I used it to patch a few bare spots in my lawn, and it worked exactly as promised.
