What you should know is,It's a 2TB drive with about 1.86TB actual. I use it as a backup drive. It works fine and I'm very happy with it.

Ideal if you need mass storage for games/ music/ movies and other large files and programs!
Up until a few years ago i exclusively used Samsung Spinpoint Hard Drives simply because they were competitively prices, reliable and were quiet in operation. Sadly with Samsung moving to SSD production they have since stopped producing 3.5" drives and now only make 2.5" designed for laptops.Whenever i build a PC (either for myself or a customer) and mass storage is required then Western Digital Blue is the only range i now use. The "Blue" range is suppose to be Western Digitals all purpose Hard Drive. So far they seem reliable and are well priced and run at 7200RPM with 64mb cache. This particular HDD uses SATA-III (6GB/s) and conforms to the 3.5" drive standard. While there are some MINOR differences between this and the black (some internal structure looks different) speed wise they perform near identical. Indeed the reason why the Western Digital Blacks cost so much is because they have an extended warranty of 5 years as opposed to 2 years you get with the blue!VERDICT: Use a small SSD for your main boot drive containing the OS, then add one of these to hold all your games and music. It's a great combination. This is a OEM edition meaning you literally get the Hard Drive in the box and nothing else so ensure you have a spare SATA data cable. For the Money these are great!

Great Value Quality HDD
Data drive for my new W11 PC. Excellent price and quick delivery. This is a very good option for a HDD.

No Hum and Fast
Pretty simple: initialise, format and it's done. Only four stars as there are better ones, but on a personal level, it's a 5 for me. I've always trusted Western Digital, never had a drive fail, although, I always replace them every 3 to 5 years. Transfer speed peaking at 160 MB/s. Perfect size because my backup drive is also 2TB, no sense having anything bigger. Nice and quiet for a 7200 rpm, no hum noticable. If a drive is fine after a week, it's usually fine for years. We shall see.

Better than my previous Seagate Barracuda
Received the delivery a day earlier than expected. The HDD works fine and seems to be quicker than the previous Seagate Barracuda with the same specification that I had.

Great Value for Money.
Western Digital are reliable. I have had more than a few mechanical drives fail on me but none of them have been Western digital. The drive is silent and great value for money. No cables come with this unit so if you do not have a new build and are purchasing this to add in an extra drive as opposed to replacing an old one do make sure you purchase the data cable and ensure that you have the power source cable as well or if you have a serial like mine which has four sockets in it, make sure one of the is free.So what can go wrong?Well for one thing since it is an unformatted drive, when you install it your computer will not show it on the "My computer" window in windows 7. You need to format the drive to NTFS (windows 7) and then it will show up. Partition the drive if you would like to and it should work well. Don't go returning the unit to Amazon as faulty as the next one will do exactly the same thing. (I didn't know this and looked at a video from newegg and it mentions this issue on new hard drives) Other than that its good reliable and cheerfully cheap. I have never installed a hard drive or built a new computer from scratch, but this was one of the easiest parts to install. Make sure you install it in the right data socket on your mother board as usually the new ones come with several SATA 6 and slower ones.

Apt
This product is similar to the old hard drive I had; the only difference with the other being Caviar Green. This hard drive works just as well, and I am well pleased with it.I ordered this on 7/4/14 and it arrived on 10/4/14, which was a day before the estimated delivery period of 12/4/14----15/4/14. Today; the 11/4/14 I also received my Windows 7 Professional operating system so I was finally able to use this hard drive. I put my sata wire in my hard drive and the other one (it's a little bigger and has black. red and yellow wires) and put in the Windows 7 disc. Windows 7 installed in under an hour and the hard drive has 931 GB of memory free on it. The hard drive is doing good so far.Another reason that I bought this hard drive rather than the Caviar Green again was because I have recently learnt about OEMs. My Caviar Green -- which I got from my other computer whose hard drive is broken -- didn't work on this current computer I am using and I now realise that it was due to it being an OEM. There is nothing to indicate that this hard drive is an OEM either, therefore if you want a possibly non-OEM hard drive, get this one. HOWEVER, don't quote me on that, I haven't tested to see if this hard drive works on different motherboards. If you are looking for a hard drive and you are thinking of buying this one, I would suggest that you do. If this hard drive is anything like my WD Caviar Green; this hard drive won't give you any problems. It's also likely that you have read the negative reviews on this HDD, I did too but after having a Caviar Green, this Caviar Blue hard drive performs similarly well and I can't find any fault with it.Although this review is only on the first day of use, I do plan on updating this to give further information, Lord willing.
