Iknow this is a bit late in the day for a review but 4 year I would say is enough time to test this product! And test it I did. Does it work? yes, and does exactly what the description says! The retraction is smooth and like the cord on an expensive vacuum cleaner. The keys are robust and tough! (Actually like my Harley Davidson keys. Its small, compact and tough and feels weighty in the hand and that gives a feeling of strength and integrity. Ease of use? bit fiddly to get into my Mac Book but that's a good thing as its going to be just as fiddly for the potential perpetrator to get off! Now I have been all over the world in the last 4 years, I'm in Vietnam at the moment and just been in Bangkok for 4 months and the lock has been every place with me. It gives me the confidence that when I go out and leave my Mac Book in the Condo or hotel room that any light fingered thief is going to be put off from nicking it. If they are really determined and really stupid then they will eventually get the Mac Book but its going to be pretty wrecked and unsaleable if they do. A robber wants to be in and out as quick as possible and with the minimum amount of fuss and this is just the ticket to stop them in their tracks. Yep, 4 years old and works like brand new. Very happy with my purchase.

Does the job - shame most PC cases don't just have a suitable hole built in for these - I had to improvise one at a LAN by jamming it into the meshing over a case fan.

Does not fit any of our Dell Latitude laptops, the locking pin is too big. Does fit our monitors and docking stations, but it was not purchased for this purpose. The description should be clearer that it is not a universal fit, and is not compatible with some of the most popular laptop models.

This Kensington laptop lock saved my life. I was addicted to using my computer, but then decided to lock it up in the living room. Ever since then, I have not been using my computer very much. This laptop lock is made from high quality materials. The lock itself works well. The rubber lining protects the computer from damage. The design is very good. I recommend this product.

Bought this to secure my laptop when going to other offices and client sites. I already have the more chunky version of this to secure my laptop to my desk at the head office but I wanted something that I could take with me and easily use when out and about. Kensington are among the most recognisable of the brands for laptop security, so I went ahead and got this. With a portable device as you'd expect this is a more slimmed down version designed to be portable. The wire is probably about the same diameter as a mouse cable but is made of braided steel. The locking mechanism is the same full lock as on the thicker cable variant only it's permanently fixed to the end of the cable. I'd say that this product is more of a deterrent to help stop the opportunist thief. When you look at the cable you do kind of think that a sharp pair of cable snips might go right through - but I think that having the wire braided helps to slow this down. The most worrying part of this is that since I got the cable I was told that it's possible for someone skilled to unlock (lock bumping) these with nothing more than a bit of cardboard !! Hence why I'd say it's more of a deterrent than a secure lock!

This tether, by Kensington, is perfect for securing your valuable laptop (or any other device with a Kensington slot) to something solid! The tether has a loop at one end and the Kensington lock at the other and comes with two, bright orange keys. This laptop lock is cut resistant and allows you to, for example, to secure your kit to charging racks without the worry of it 'going missing'! If you want a simple to use locking system, then this is definitely one to think about!

This was fine once I realised what to do. Make sure the key is in and the T-bar and two pins are aligned. The hole on the side of my laptop is quite a tight fit and at first I was only putting the T-bar into the hole. When I realised the two pins had to go in too then it worked fine. I have to position it quite straight and level to get them all in or just rock it back and forth gently and then the T-bar and the two pins go all the way in. So don’t give up if it seems tricky on the first attempt. It’s supposed to be a tight fit. The rubber surround should go right up to the laptop case and you shouldn’t be able to see much of the metal parts any more. Then lock it and remove the key.

This lock is super fluid to use unlike its cheaper competition, the overall locking mechanism itself is great no catching or the likes. The wiring is extremely high quality coated in a plastic material but underneath this thing is extremely tough to get through, would recommend to anyone who has a need for locking their laptop and dont want the crappy cheap alternatives.

Ich habe mir dieses Schloss gekauft um mein MacBook nicht ewig im Auge haben zu müssen. Während meines Studiums habe ich, wie die meisten, einige Zeit in der Bibliothek verbracht. Gerde dort ist es Nervig wenn man selbst zur Toilette sein Mac mitnehmen muss. Dieses Schloss bietet definitiv ausreichend Schutz um es gerader dann am Platz zu lassen. Einfach eine Schlaufe um einen fest Montieren Gegenstand (Heizung oder Ähnlich) am Mac befestigen und fertig.

Este cable de seguridad es justamente lo que estaba buscando. Aunque algo más caro que otras alternativas, basta con tenerlo en las manos para poder apreciar la calidad. Si el precio no es tu criterio más importante, yo creo que es un artículo muy recomendable.
