It Has Saved Me Several Times...
"The Four Agreements" by Don Miguel Ruiz is an extraordinary guide to personal freedom and spiritual enlightenment. With its concise yet impactful principles, this book offers a roadmap to transforming one's life by breaking free from limiting beliefs and embracing a new way of being. Ruiz distills ancient Toltec wisdom into four foundational agreements that can lead readers toward a path of self-discovery and profound self-improvement. These agreements are: - Be Impeccable with Your Word: Ruiz emphasizes the immense power of our words and how they shape our reality. By choosing honesty, speaking positively about ourselves and others, and refraining from using words against ourselves, we can create a life rooted in authenticity and integrity. - Don't Take Anything Personally: This agreement liberates us from the tyranny of others' opinions and actions. Ruiz explains how the way people treat us is a reflection of their own experiences and beliefs, not a measure of our worth. By letting go of the need for external validation, we can find inner peace. - Don't Make Assumptions: Assumptions often lead to misunderstandings and unnecessary conflicts. Ruiz advocates for open communication and the courage to ask questions, ensuring clarity and preventing unnecessary emotional suffering caused by jumping to conclusions. - Always Do Your Best: By committing to doing your best in every moment, you release yourself from the chains of self-judgment and regret. This agreement encourages self-compassion and the understanding that our "best" can vary from day to day due to circumstances beyond our control. Ruiz's writing style is simple and accessible, yet it carries a profound depth of wisdom. He masterfully weaves together spiritual insights, psychology, and practical advice into a tapestry of transformation. The anecdotes and examples he shares make the concepts relatable and applicable to everyday life. "The Four Agreements" is not a book to read and forget; it's a manual for living authentically and harmoniously. Its teachings can help us dismantle the self-imposed limitations that hinder our growth and happiness. By adopting these agreements, readers can embark on a journey of self-mastery, leading to a more fulfilling and purpose-driven existence. This book is a must-read for anyone seeking personal development, spiritual growth, or a deeper understanding of the human experience. Whether you're new to self-help literature or a seasoned reader, "The Four Agreements" offers timeless wisdom that has the potential to reshape your perception of the world and your place within it.

Healing For Relationships
When I first started to read The Four Agreements, I wasn't sure if I was going to like it or get much out of it. The language is rather simplistic as are the principles. On top of that there is mentioned in the first chapter a rather odd Toltec belief that life is a dream. I soon realized however that this is not quite in the literal sense but in the sense that our realities are what we make it. In other words, our perception of life is not necessarily truth. To quote the author, 'Every human is an artist. The dream of your life is to make beautiful art'. The four agreements are agreements which you make with yourself. The agreements are as follows: 1. Be impeccable with your word. 2. Don't take anything personally. 3. Don't make assumptions. 4. Always do your best. I found that when Don Miguel Ruiz expands on these agreements that actually they are foundational principles for forming positive relationships, becoming more accepting of yourself and others and puts you on a road to both internal peace and peace with others. The principles may not be new to you but the author lays it out in such a way that it inspires you further. It is a book that I believe can be a guide to bring about healing in relationships and within communities. The simplicity of the book means that it can be read by a wide audience. I would love to see these principles taught in schools to students age 11 and over! The agreements are easy to understand but challenging to live by. It would take years of practice. It would great if so many people could start learning this at an early age and see it practised all around them.

“A Small Book That Truly Changed My Perspective”
⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ A Small Book with a Huge Impact! I picked up The Four Agreements after hearing so many people talk about how life-changing it was — and now I completely understand why. It’s short, easy to read, and packed with wisdom that really makes you stop and think. Don Miguel Ruiz breaks down four simple principles that can completely change how you handle stress, relationships, and self-doubt. The ideas are so clear and practical — things you can actually apply in everyday life. What I love most is how peaceful and freeing it feels once you start putting the “agreements” into practice. I’ve noticed myself being less reactive, more mindful, and just overall happier. It’s the kind of book I’ll keep coming back to whenever I need a reminder to stay grounded. If you’re looking for something that can truly shift your mindset and bring more calm into your life, this little book is 100% worth it.

Useful valid points and intellectually of good substance but not inspiring
I think the four agreements are incredibly well laid out and very powerful. Certainly agree with those and bought the book with the hope of creating the insight and inspiration needed to be able to get closer to those agreements. However I must say although the content and ideas of the book are very good, reading the second chapter about the first agreement: being impeccable with yourself, had many good valid points and intellectually of very valid substance, but left me completely un-inspired and felt very basic. Almost 90% of the chapter about this first rule is about examples of the bad consequences of using the word in the wrong way and all the negatives and black magic spell etc. There was hardly any examples of how the word can be used correctly and to positive impact which is what i was hoping to read about. In other words this book is more focused on what to avoid as opposed to on what to do more of which is what I wanted to read. I guess for somebody who has read a few books on this topic I have read better books. However I think this book highlights very important aspects of being a good human been and a free soul.

A magic book
If you ever had any problems feeling judged, maybe making assumptions or taking things personally, maybe you dont like confrontation, or maybe you feel low because you are going through a bad relationship, a bad living environment or maybe even a toxic work environment. This is the book for you, and trust me, anyone could take lessons from this book that will seriously help you, mind and emotion. Dont waste time, this is the best self help/advice book gotten. People say you dont need advice , but this wisdom is so valuable, it will change how you approach conflicts and negative thoughts and i only had it for maybe less than 24 hours

This book set me free...thanks for your endless wisdom, Miguel!
I dived straight away into chapter 3 that talks about the second agreement namely 'to not take things personally', since this is something that I have been struggling with for so long. What was so enlightening was the logic Miguel uses to basically convey why it doesn't make sense to take what someone says personally. Everyone is different. Everyone leads their own life. Everyone has their own dreams and their own agreements. It is all about them and not the person on the receiving end of the insult or even compliment. This quote really hit home: 'Whatever you think, whatever you feel, I know is your problem and not my problem. It is the way you see the world. It is nothing personal, because you are dealing with yourself, not with me. Others are going to have their own opinion according to their belief system, so nothing they think about me is really about me, but it is about them'. This is such a liberating read! I highly recommend it and I'm excited to dive into the other chapters.

Four agreements of wisdom
The Four Agreements is a practical guide to personal freedom, based on Toltec ancient Wisdom. The Toltec lived in southern Mexico and were known for their knowledge. According to the Toltecs, gaining personal freedom seems to be achievable for those who pay attention to the four (positive) agreements to improve their own lifes. Agreements can be chosen in the past, such as destructive behaviours and limiting beliefs about oneself. To improve, it is necessary to become aware of old agreements and get rid of them. Dissolving old agreements can be reached firstly by taking care of the usage of words as they are a powerful means and can be very destructive. Secondly by not taking anything personally in a negative or positive way. Thirdly it's very wise to avoid making assumptions about someone and asking questions instead to build up a clearer perspective. Fourthly, after paying attention to the first three agreements, but especially being conscious of the impact of words, one should always give the best in life. All the agreements sound rather simple to maintain, but at the beginning of the book, the author stresses, that sticking to these four "rules" requires a strong will and can't probably be achieved within a short period of time, since old agreements must first be dissolved and replaced. All in all, this book is very fascinating to read. It's a rather short read but provides enough information about the Toltec's philosophy.

A set of quotes, not a book!
Waste of paper, time and money. It could have been a set of four post-its with one agreement on each.
