A deft balance between special effects, comedy, and family dynamics made Honey I Shrunk the Kids a hit for Disney and spawned both a string of video sequels and a subsequent TV series. Moranis is endearing as the bumbling inventor/father of the Szalinski family. He inadvertently shrinks his own children then throws them out with the trash. They, along with the neighbour's kids, must journey back across their own backyard, now an enormous, dangerous distance, to get back to the right height. Much is done with the perils of the lawn, from a wild deluge from the sprinklers to a nasty encounter with the lawnmower and numerous encounters with gigantic insects. A generally kid-friendly, inventive (no pun intended), and entertaining outing. -- Keith Simanton Collection of the three 'Honey, I...' films starring Rick Moranis as eccentric inventor Wayne Szalinski. In 'Honey, I Shrunk the Kids' (1989), Szalinski's latest project is his attempt to develop a machine that will shrink things, but so far it only explodes things. When his kids knock a baseball through his laboratory window, the ball activates the machine, so that when they go to retrieve the ball they are shrunk to a quarter of an inch high. Wayne sees the mess but not his kids, and he inadvertently sweeps them into the dustbin... In 'Honey, I Blew Up the Kid' (1992), Szalinski has invented and built a machine that will enlarge objects rather than shrink objects (or children). While in the process of demonstrating his invention, his two-year-old son gets in the way and is accidentally enlarged. He continues to grow until he is over 100 foot high. A comic tale of what happens when the tables are turned and people and buildings become playthings for a giant toddler. In 'Honey We Shrunk Ourselves' (1996), Szalinski succeeds in shrinking himself, his brother and their wives when yet another experiment goes wrong. They must try to make their way downstairs to attract the attention of their children, braving hazards such as a float in a soap bubble and a crash landing in a bowl of dip along the way. Review: Amazing films - Amazing films Review: Dated but still a great film! - This boxset features all 3 films in the Disney 'Honey, I' franchise. It is well worth buying if you remember watching it as a child, or indeed if you have a family with young children. Yes, you can tell instantly by the opening credits that the film is dated, but younger children aren't likely to notice and you soon forget as you get into it! Get it for the first 2 films alone. Recommeded. 'Honey I shrunk The Kids' is a 1989 comedy which sees Rick Moranis star as the 'nutty' professor Wayne Szalinski who invents an electro-magnetic shrink ray that accidently shrinks his 2 kids and the neighbours kids to 1/4 of an inch! Not realising, he sweeps them up and puts them in a bin in the back garden! The story follows the kids' journey back into the house as they face giant bees, ants and the threat of a lawnmower! This, the original film in the series is by far the best in my opinion. 'Honey, I Blew Up The Kid' is the 1992 sequel to 'Honey, I Shrunk The Kids' and features Rick Moranis again as Wayne Szalinski. SInce the last incident, the Szalinskis have welcomed a new addition to the family, 2.5 year old Adam. Wayne takes Adam to work while he is demonstrating a new machine. Just as he presses the button, Adam walks into the beam. The story then follows Adam as he grows and grows and grows! 'Honey, We Shrunk Ourselves' was a 1997 direct to video sequel to 'Honey, I Blew Up The Kid' and again featured Rick Moranis, although his wife Diane is now played by a different actress. The story tells of how Wayne, his wife, brother and sister-in-law are accidentally shrunk with his electro-magnetic shrink ray. This time it is up to son Adam and his cousins to un-shrink their parents.

Great bundle of FUN!
The first part reminds me a lot of my childhood. I used to love that movie, and I still enjoy watching it till now. The second part is cool too, but the first one is better. Well, the third is ok I guess. However, when you put them all in one box, with this great price, it is really worth it. If you didn't watch the first part, you defiantly need to!

Classic Disney When they were good
Honey I (boxset) is classic disney when they were good at making films and had the freedom to do what they liked without the fear of shareholders crying into their gold hankies.

good family enjoyable fun
Thoroughly enjoyed this when watched years ago with family - still fun now. Highly fun interaction between charactors, children/teenagers who have really good ideas and tease/fight/love, as people do in real life, so not corny or silly, just good family fun. I laughed a lot at some bits, still do at the thought of them, very good. Blew up the kid gets bit daft and silly but Honey, I Shrunk The Kids and Honey, we Shrunk ourselves are very good.
