Can I trace without removing the adhesive paper? I would like to trace photos from a book for studying and then paste to my notebook.

You can trace easily with the notes but there is no release paper just a strip of adhesive on one edge ( just like a post-it note)

What are the best type of pens to use to write on these?

The permanent marker sharpie ultra fine has worked the best so far. You can use a regular pen but it doesn’t show up as well. And gel pens made a mess if they didn’t dry completely.
