Coghlans Back Packers Trowel

Hope to never need to use, but it gives peace of mind. Very light. Feels reasonably strong.

Bright and lightweight but I also take a metal trowel camping just in case.

Used this to bury my fecal matter in various scenic spots across the Lake District. It is both sturdy and compact, and fits well in my backpack. It stood up well against the moderately soft heathery and heavy soil on the fells, and is of a good length to dig a deep enough hole. Additionally, the shovel is sharp enough that I could almost 'saw' a hole in the soil, creating a neat soil 'plug' that I could then cover the hole with after having finished my business. Plus points for being a great colour. No complaints at all, 10/10 will use again.

This product is brilliant! Handy little trowel for those who want a lightweight, sturdy outdoor en-suite. The slimline design means it fits into your bag without being too round and bulky, and the hard plastic and almost sharp trowel edge makes this an excellent tool. I was surprised how strong it was - we had a week in the rocky Cairngorms and it did the job for the whole group. Definitely with the money.

It does the job! Not sure what to say about it really. After all, what do you need from a backpackers trowel? It's sharp enough to dig a hole in some fairly tough ground, it's light enough (and compact enough) not to be a nuisance to carry, and it's bright orange so you can't possibly lose it! Also washes very easily when you get home and want to get the muck off. As for durability, it does seem pretty tough and I reckon it will last a while. I'd certainly rather spend less and get a lighter plastic trowel that I have to replace every so often than get a more expensive and heavier one.
