dont get all the bad 1 star reviews here, check some YT videos before buying and you know what to expect. It is a VERY SMALL mic, you can lay it down on your palm, BUT that doesnt mean at all that this mic is getting bad because of that. I am a hobby music producer and lyric writer, and i tried to find a way to improve the qualitiy of my products, and this little mic met my needs in absolut every way. Pro's: - 1,5m long USB cable - very good sound quality - adjustable DB-Level right on the mic (0, + 10, - 10, hence if people complain about bad background noise, dont wonder if set up too high ;) ) - internal sound chip for highly increased quality compared to normal USB mics which take the internal soundcard for incoming noise - additional 3,5mm clink adapter for all common headphones - very light to hold, easy to use (plug and play, worked immideatley on my windows 8 PC) - very good recording quality, NOT ONLY for radio shows or simple talking but also for singing / rapping (i would suggest to get a mic holder and use a bit tape to fix it, makes it easier to keep the same distance to the mic) Con's: Really only one , the software they deliver is crap :D. As i am producing a bit longer already, I use cubase and ableton. So once more before you decide not to buy because of all the bad reviews: Good quality comes from what you put in. Set it to 0 Decibel, record, have distance to your laptop, make sure you have the right surroundings (of course your quality gets worse if you sing in a small empty kitchen where the sound bounces back from walls) and also learn how to adjust what you have recorded. Simple equalizer should already be enough to take out unwanting noises. So do not complain because you think singing into it and clikcing play gives you awesome results, it is a bit more work behind it indeed. Do not hesitate to answer questions! The Samson Go microphone is ideal for anyone looking for near-studio quality sound recording for barely a fraction of the price. This USB condenser mic has gained reputation as being the most favourable microphone by YouTubers from all niches. Pros: - Small and lightweight - Three modes: - High quality sound - Great `bang for buck' value for money - Very laptop-friendly Cons: - Built-on clip could be more solid - Not completely desktop-friendly What's in the box?: The Samson Go comes packaged with a two-meter USB cable, a carry case (which can only fit the microphone and nothing else), warranty information, a CD containing some optional drivers and audio recording/editing software and a user manual. The microphone is packaged into a fairly small box, but that had effect on my reaction when I initially opened the box... First Impressions: It's tiny! The Samson Go microphone was much smaller than I had anticipated. Measuring just under three inches in length it easily fits into any desktop or portable set up. It features a switch to choose between Cardiod, Omni and -10dB modes, a 3.5mm headphone socket and a USB socket. The most prominent feature of the Go was the clip which allows the microphone to stand up on a flat surface or be clipped to a monitor or laptop clamshell. Sound Quality: It's a microphone, so no doubt you will want to hear for yourselves how well it performs. Below is a video comparing it to a built-in microphone on my Sony Vaio laptop to the Samson Go mic in three different modes: Overview & Verdict: This is a very well built product with incredible attention being paid to its design. Regardless of it being so small, it feels very solid in the hand and that gives it a very premium feel. It has plug and play compatibility with Windows and Mac so all you need is the two-metre USB cable supplied. You will be able to plug the mic into almost any machine and start recording right away! I found the balance of sound quality with price exceptional. For just over thirty pounds there is no microphone that rivals the Samson Go. Stepping up from conventional built-in mics I have been thoroughly impressed with the Go. My primary use for the mic is YouTube video voice-overs for which the microphone works very well. Sound is very crisp, clear and background noise is easily removed using the Cardiod or -10dB mode. I imagine this mic is also well suited to group podcasts and recordings too as the Omni mode does a very good job of picking up sound from all directions.

My first sample had an issue with the pickup pattern switch being loose and not connecting the pins inside properly, causing the sound to cut to silence at times. I got it replaced (kudos to Amazon for _instant_ shipping of a replacement upon phone call), and while the new unit doesn't have the cut-off issue any more, the switch is still a little loose. Let me explain. What I think happened when Samson designed this microphone, is that they started off with this nice, sleek metal body that fit snugly into the clip/base when folded. A couple of revisions later they added the pickup pattern switch. It turned out a bit sloppy, because they didn't think about revising the clip/base, and the switch is on the inner side of the mic, where the hinge connects it to the base. So now when you want to fold the mic, it doesn't fully go in, because the switch is in the way. I've attached photos to illustrate the problem. I suspect the people (or machines, who knows) working on these mics at the factory don't pay much attention to this issue and just cram the mic into the base when they're about to pack it. This causes many of the switches to become loose due to force impressed, and some of them break. This doesn't affect my use case that much, because I mostly intend to use the Go Mic as a desktop microphone, but if you're looking for a portable solution - I don't think I would recommend this one, despite it's excellent form factor and portability aspirations. The pickup pattern switch is too fragile for frequent folding of the mic. Despite this [fairly major] gripe, I love the Go Mic. For the price, it offers amazing sound quality and provides an all-in-one package that you can simply unbox and get recording. Instant recognition in Windows and Linux (in my case Windows 7 SP1 and Linux Mint 18), straightforward controls, and the remarkably useful sound clipping indicator all make for a wonderful experience. Looking to get a decent sounding microphone for voice communication? Want to improve your YouTube audio? Or perhaps you need to record instruments on a budget? This mic can do it all (and probably a lot more) pretty darn well.

Wow. I use the microphone for several things on my Desktop PC. I use it to narrate over video while video editing and to record music and vocals for singing. Narrating first is clear and powerful. The ability to switch between different modes is great as it lets you get the dynamics of the room right. I am no where near the professional when it comes to audio but it sounds so crisp. It's so powerful that you can hear the whirl of my fans in the computer, this is easily sorted by moving the mic away and changing the mode of recording. The long wire and the clip also is great, I get a bit of room when recording. Although I haven't fully tested it for recording music and vocals, I did a few tests when I first got the microphone. I was blow away my the quality of the sound, using Cubase to record.I did find out that the microphone records in mono which is a little disappointing but with a little edit in Cubase you can make it sound like surround sound. The product is small, the box it comes with is awesome and you get a good amount of kit with it too. You get a clip, a case, the USB cable and software too. I am really pleased with this for a great price.

This microphone is studio quality at a reasonable price anyone can afford. I have been using this microphone for five weeks and it has not disappointed me one bit. The carboid patten mode is great for recording lectures without picking up noises from people behind, and the -10 dB switch lets you use the microphone close to your mouth for realistic and crisp recording. It picks up the highs and lows very well and the background noise is minimal enough to allow you to remove it quite easily without sacrificing quality of the audio you care about. The fact that the go pro came with the case was very surprising, considering that this is usually an accessory companies sell separately to make an extra buck, and I have to give props to Samson for including it in the box for their customers convenience, and to ensure the longevity of the products they sell. The case does not feel cheap either, it is very well made and feels quite rugged and sturdy to protect your go pro from any knocks and drops it may encounter during your travels. The stand that the microphone rests on is also very good quality, and it feels like it is unlikely to break even with a bit of rough handling. The ball joint pivot is at an optimum grip that allows you to move it freely and fluidly with little resistance, while also making sure the microphone stays in its exact position without any sagging over time. Overall this is a very good product for its price, and it would be refreshing to see many other companies that make electronic devices match the quality and price ratio that Samson have managed to achieve.

I need to do quite a lot of draft voiceovers so I can get my animation timings right. Normally I use the built in mic on my iMac, however the levels are always super low which requires me boosting them up. Also the position of the iMac mic is in a really useless place (at the top of the monitor). I bought this to improve the quality of my recordings. For what I do I decided it wasn't worth the extra cost of a professional level mic. The Samson is a very neat easy to use, attractive product. For me the only disappointment is the sound levels are still fairly low, better than the built in mic, but not massively better. Despite the levels being low, the sound quality is significantly better than the built in mic (once you have boosted it).

I purchased this USB microphone to use with Windows 10 digital assistant "Cortana". I used this mic for an unorthodox "in a car pc" installation. I used the clip to install the mic just above the steering wheel. I connected the provided USB cable, from the mic to the PC (no drivers or software were necessary on Windows 10). In use, the microphone picked up my voice perfectly over the engine/fan noise. I was surprised how accurate the mic was, with the voice recognition software. There were two switchable mic settings to choose between, cardioid and omnidirectional pickup patterns. For my purpose, I selected omnidirectional. The build quality of this mic is fantastic, the base provides a stable platform if you have it on a table. The microphone can also be folded away, into the base. You can also mount the base on a tripod, which is a nice addition. A protective travel case is also supplied in the box. In conclusion, the retro styling may not be to everyone's taste but I like it. If you want a portable, reliable, good quality, versatile USB mic. This is the one.... Intel STK2m3W64CC Compute Stick (Black) - (Intel Core m3-6Y30, 4 GB RAM,, 64 GB eMMC, Intel HD Graphics 515)

This sounds a bit worse than it is. In reality, this little mic sounds excellent. First the bad: * Nitpick - It doesn't have external controls (apart from a simple -10dB pad switch, with is very handy) and the build quality of the plastic housing isn't stellar. * Real niggle: The placement of the USB connector is also in such a place where it makes the microphone sag to one side. * Real niggle: The internal USB interface only supports 16bit 44.1kHz, where it would have been great if it could have supported at least 16bit 48Hz. 44.1kHz is CD quality, but 48kHz is a massive improvement for studio-based work. If this was a crappy microphone, this would not have been an issue. The reality is that this is a great sounding little microphone, so the 44.1kHz-only interface does limit the utility of this microphone (at 48kHz I would have had no issue using this microphone for professional voice-overs Do I dislike this microphone? Not at all, it's just that with a little bit "extra" it would have been able to punch well above it's weight. As a result, this is a good "rehearsal" or "jam session" microphone, and it's small size makes it great for travelling. I can heartily recommend this mic to singer-songwriters to use as a brainstorming microphone, and for a YouTuber/Gamer as a great streaming microphone. Unfortunately this won't be your "one-mic-for-everything" device. It's a bit pricey, so if you can justify paying for it, go ahead and get it. It's a great little device, in spite of all the shortcomings.

I purchased this mic to use for screencasts (recording what's happening on my PC's screen while I talk about it). I set it up to sit on my desktop, approximately 2' away from me and used Camtasia Studio 8 [Download ] and a free program called CamStudio to test it out. Both programs worked well with the mic and did what I'd hoped it would do - eliminated my need for a clunky, wired mic headset. The build quality of the mic seems excellent, and the compact design is fantastic! I love that it comes with its own carrying case and that it can be on a desktop or clipped to a laptop's monitor. KINKS IN MY SYSTEM: MUFFLED AUDIO The included software: Cakewalk's Music Creator LE can be installed on one computer. You get 30 days to register it. I installed it and registered it immediately, but it would not allow me to put in my registration code, saying I wasn't the system administrator. I am, and my Windows 7 PC says I am, but alas, it wouldn't work. This software is optional, but I decided to install it prior to the microphone (per instructions) to try it out. Eventually I ended up uninstalling it. Soon after installing Cakewalk, I had a PC issue: muffled audio recording. No amount of system tweaking seemed to fix it. I was stumped. Then I decided to go to the Samson site and see if there were updated drivers for the mic. The generic ones installed were from 2010. No luck. I began reading online about 'muffled audio' on Windows 7 PCs. Somewhere I noticed a name I recognized: RealTek, which was a name associated with my speakers on my PC (RealTek digital audio). I went to the RealTek site and noted updated drivers for Windows 7 64-bit (2012), and decided to download and install them. I rebooted my PC and tested out the audio recording once more. Much to my delight, this solved the muffled audio problem! I did set the bitrate to the highest level for the best sound quality recording. Afterwards I tested out the mic using Camtasia and CamStudio, both worked beautifully with the Samson Go Mic! On my desk at a distance of about 2.5', this mic pics up my voice perfectly for dictation and screencasts. No hiss, hum, breath noises or distortion. Very clear and with the properly installed drivers for my audio - works perfectly with the USB 2.0 connection on my powered USB hub. CONCLUSION: BUY IT FOR GREAT RECORDINGS This mic is a truly great if it's recognized and properly configured by your system. Impressively clear recordings, unlike any I've been able to obtain using a Plantronics .Audio 655 USB Multimedia Headset or the mic on my Microsoft LifeCam Cinema 720p HD Webcam - Black . For the price, I don't think you can do better. It's compact, has great voice pick-up and audio recording clarity. Installation issues may occur, but updating audio drivers, using a powered USB hub connection and tweaking audio settings within the operating system should give you the quality you've been hoping for at a price that's right. UPDATE: 12/30/13 Been using this mic consistently for a couple months and I'm liking it. It's a condenser mic, and doesn't filter out ambient noise as well as I'd like, however for an under forty dollar purchase - I'm still very happy with it. Cakewalk never has registered correctly with my system so I uninstalled it. I guess if anything, that's been the downside to this purchase.

I was concerned about buying this mic as some of the one and two star ratings had had a bad experience. But I bought it anyway, it turns out to be very good. The clip looks like it's plastic but it is metal, so very strong.

Dopo mille calcoli, ho comprato questo microfono e devo dire che la scelta finale l’ho azzeccata in pieno. Lo consiglio senza alcun dubbio. POSITIVO: 1) Marca di grande qualità 2) Dimensione e peso ridottissimi (sta nel palmo della mia mano, che già è piccola di suo), quindi portatile e non solo da tavolo 3) Tre differenti settaggi di direzionalità dell’audio, pertanto non è solo omnidirezionale, ma puoi escludere il retro del microfono praticamente, oppure no. 4) Cosa per me fondamentale: È compatibile con iPhone e smartphone, cioè se volessi, compro un adattatore e lo collego direttamente al cellulare senza bisogno di alimentazione esterna tramite hub (cosa che serve ad altri microfoni) 5) La pinza fa da custodia per il microfono quando è chiuso, ma ha anche dei piedini sotto e funge da base d’appoggio del microfono quando si vuole usarlo mettendo sul tavolo, ma inoltre la stessa pinza serve a posizionare il microfono sopra il video del proprio laptop. Come dire: progettato benissimo. 6) Audio eccellente, senza alcun fruscio di sottofondo. Driver che si istalla benissimo in automatico e senza aver dato il minimo problema. 7) Cavo usb ben lungo e non come spesso accade... supercorto. Questo permette di collegarlo senza problemi anche a un PC tower, per capirci, e non solo a un portatile. 8) La custodia con cerniera in dotazione è strabella (vedi foto) 9) Confezione impeccabile, idem le istruzioni (solo in inglese). 10) Possibilità di collegare al microfono anche le cuffie (unica cosa che non ho provato e che al momento non mi serve). 11) Buon rapporto qualità/prezzo se paragonato a microfoni che costano 4 o 5 volte tanto, senza offrire 4 o 5 volte la qualità di questo. NEGATIVO: Niente di niente!

this mic sounds better than my $120 mic and its cheap.

I'm so glad I purchased this microphone. I read some reviews that said building quality looked cheap, but I completely disagree. The microphone is heavier than I expected, and the materials are nice to the touch. The sound quality is good for my use (Zoom calls and recordings), I haven't had complaints of external noise bleeding through the microphone. I do use the cardioid setting only and have never used the other settings. The travel pouch is only for the microphone, not the cable. Cable is long enough. Just plug and play, no setup needed. Spending over $60 CAD seemed a little steep, but I think it's a good price for the overall quality of the mic. I don't regret buying it. Only complaint, product registration for Samson is only available in the US when you buy from Amazon.
