Works Well When You Get To Know It.
Simple basic and easy to use. The grind adjustment needs a few goes to get the grind you require. Have put a label on the grinder to remind me the settings I use. Single press to start with auto finish depending on the cup setting selected. Easy to clean, I use a soft brush after each use.

It's worth reading - I'm explaining a significant problem.
It's worth reading - I'm explaining a significant problem.De'Longhi KG79 coffee grinder is a decent, cheap electric grinder. They grind coffee quite evenly. The finest grind is absolutely sufficient for me. I don't know if every copy grinds the same. If someone wants to get flour, they say that this grinder can be readjusted. Unfortunately, this requires a bit of disassembly (there's a video on YouTube). Before buying, I read the comments and they repeat the fault of the main switch - new grinders don't start. Mine didn't start either. However, I didn't believe that I also got a faulty copy and I took a closer look at the grinder. What did I discover? It turned out that these grinders have a certain design imperfection. There is a safety switch under the top cover, which turns the grinder off when the cover is lifted. Unfortunately, the design of this mechanism is flawed. When closing the cover, it often catches on the switch, gets stuck and doesn't close. The cover remains slightly raised and the grinder doesn't start. Therefore, when closing the cover, you need to pay attention to whether it has entered its place, lowered all the way down. With a little practice, this should not be a problem, but you need to pay attention to it. I am sure that this is why many people have considered the new grinder to be damaged. This is a small flaw, but it is there. The second problem with this device is the electrified casing. And I consider this flaw to be the worst. From what I know, this is a problem with many grinders.I have not noticed any other flaws. But because of the electrified plastic, this grinder only gets four stars from me. If not for this, it would be five stars and I would be absolutely satisfied.

1st class coffee grinder for all your needs
Amazing coffee grinder especially considering the price.... Fast and consistent grinds and a full range of grind settings enable this grinder to suit all coffee making applications.I read an independant review on this product recently that criticised it's ability to grind fine enough for use in an open portafilter esppresso maker, but I can assure you on its finest setting the grinds are talcom powder fine.I use a double walled pressurised portafilter on my Delonghi esspresso machine and have to turn the grade setting 4 notches back from fine setting to enable it to extract correctlyAs I have only just started to use this machine I obviously can't comment on it's durability but I can recommend it for it's functionality

Good grinder
I had it for a few months, use it only during the weekend, as that's the only time I drink coffee at home.Easy to use, you can adjust the courseness and quantity of coffee. Good results every time in a few seconds, and it's make a world of a difference to have fresh ground coffee.CONS. it doesn't come with a brush, so I bought a brush set for it, as it's a bit odd to clean.I had a way cheaper one before and it came with a cleaning brush.

I think it's fine for espresso
I bought it solely by looking at the high rating and purchase volume, and the fact that it's the same brand with our espresso machine (De'Longhi EC885). Then I searched for espresso fineness setting and came across all the terrible reviews on youtube, reddit and pretty much all the non-5 star ratings here. Which was less than ideal.Being a complete coffee amateur I've got zero insight, but I know collecting data, so here's the result: I first bought beans from Starbucks and had them ground for espresso machine. I opened up a lavazza brand pod for barista style espresso machine. I also ground some whole beans I got from Sainsbury's.Starbucks (SB) is the most coarse and still tastes fine (to me, who again is an amateur).Pod I think either is at the same level of fineness with what I got from this grinder.De'Longhi (DL) is like I said either on par with the pod, or maybe a touch finer. It's more visible to the eye.Based on this, I'm keeping the grinder. I have a sense that people who say that it's terrible for espresso do not go and buy their coffee from Starbucks and their choice of grinder's cost isn't comparable to that of their coffee maker :D. In my case it seems to be the better option out of all alternatives. So at least for the entry level, this gives me the best ground and I can already feel myself becoming a coffee snob in real time. Maybe soon I won't find it adequate but based on what I see, I think this is fine (literally and figuratively).

Grinding wheel melted plastic and burned coffee.
I thought that this would be a great grinder. The grinding was not great. First time it produced a very fine result in middle setting. Not great for French Press. Tried the coarse grinding and it left lots of chunky pieces of coffee. Not great. While doing the last try, a "burnt coffee" smell started to come out of the machine. It was running for around 25 seconds. I open the top lid and slight smoke was coming from the mechanism. I removed the top grinding wheel and when trying to clean it I burned myself. It was super hot. It was SO hot that it MELTED the plastic housing of the grinding wheel. I only noticed it when I tried to push it back in and realized that it wouldn't go in again. This is not only poor design, it is also DANGEROUS!!!!So, I'm returning it and sending a complaint to De'Longhi.I don't recommend it. I ended up grinding my coffee with my trusted 8 years old Krups.
