I hope this answers your questions. A great solution at a reasonable price.
I am on day one of using this, but so far I am very impressed. The item is of a good quality and reasonably quiet even at full blast. You can hear it running though so don't expect silence.Previously my laptop constantly burnt my leg even when using it with a laptop tray fan so I was very worried it would catch on fire, taking my leg with it!. I have fitted the fan to my HP Pavillion and it seems pretty stable, reducing the heat issue by roughly 90% (Sorry this is my best guess, nothing scientific). I can use my laptop on my lap without any support to the fan as the clamps and the permanent support are excellent. Don't worry though, the permanent sticker just holds a bracket on your laptop to allow you to adjust and even remove fan when you want. (I couldn't use the suction version because my laptop has a texture in the plastic). As my HP Pavilion Laptop has sloping grills on the vents, it was a bit tricky to get the best fit and the silicon mouth of the fan covers a couple of my sockets but they are not sockets I use. If I need to access them at any time I can remove the fan in seconds and use my laptop tray, so I am still happy with my purchase.

so the Opolar is not resting on the desk at all and it's holding it's position just fine with built-in spring clips
Without this, my HP Envy gets quite warm to the touch when running intensive programs or several things at the same time. The internal fan works properly but it can't really cope. I have a pad with two fans but it doesn't really help. Those cooler pads just blow air everywhere. They're ok for people that are just surfing the web or sending emails on the sofa or the bed since they stop the case vents being blocked and maintain the normal airflow. This Opolar vacuum type cooler, on the other hand, seems to me to do exactly what they claim.BIG difference. You can see temperatures from the picture and that I have a second monitor plugged in to the HDMI socket and the actual speed of the processor. I bought it as an ex-demo and I think they may have clocked it a bit . I've since added more memory and had a Solid State Drive fitted and the original drive moved to bay 2.I've used the stick on plate rather than the flimsy one with suction cups and the laptop is still sitting on the cooler pad , just to raise it up and angle it towards me, so the Opolar is not resting on the desk at all and it's holding it's position just fine with built-in spring clips. There is no bearing or mechanical noise at all. It's very smooth. However, be aware that it really does move a lot of air so when it kicks in, or you manually turn up the fan speed, there will be quite a bit of wind noise.Wind is noisy, I guess there's no way round that in an application like this.Delivered quickly too.Hope that helps.

Surprisingly good laptop cooler.
I haven't had temperature guages on this but what I can say is this.I have been using a laptop with a broken internal fan to play games at tha limit of the laptop's abilities. It runs hot enough to cause itself to shut down after 30 minutes of play. With the opolar fitted it keeps cool enough to work indefinitely.I am really pleased with it.I did place some tape where the opolar sits against the laptop to improve airflow by improving the seal.It is only really loud when at full speed. I never had to have it on flat out permanently. Most of the time it was well within acceptable limits.I found the auto mode to be really good. Especially when doing less demanding tasks. It turns itself up or down (or off) as required.

very cool!
this thing solved problems with my laptop overheating and crashingpros:1. it is definitely very efficient...cools my laptop fast and more than sufficiently2. it is also quite easy to attach it to the laptop3. manual speed setting really has 13 steps from he slowest to the fastestcons:1. it is bulky...and not especially pretty2. quite noisy...and higher the speed noisier it gets...you need to play some music to forget about it3. it takes one usb port and doesn't give it back4. could be cheaper

I was skeptical but now I wouldn't be separated from it
I was skeptical. It seemed likely to be better than just a gel pad, but probably not as good as the gamer's ones with 4 or more fans in them. To be frank, if I'd appreciated its size, I'd possibly not have tried it - as it is a little larger than I expected. However, it arrived, and after a few moment's bafflement at the instructions which make it seem far more complicated to use than it really is, I had it fitted and working. My laptop has been getting very warm for a long time, but it was really highlighted when the wax surface on our kitchen table got overheated underneath the original fan. My fear had been that something would catch fire. With the Opolar in place, the fan switches on and off every few minutes, and the laptop is a much more respectable cool.I am absolutely delighted. I've no idea whether processing times have been reduced, but it is a joy not to feel scalding hot air blasting my hand as I use the mouse.

Excellent! It surpassed my expectations!
waw, i saw a lot of reviews and discussions on forums and i thought that some reviews were a little exaggerated...some guy said it dropped his laptop temp with 25 °C.THEN, i bought one, and it cooled my laptop from: GPU <80°C, CPU <85°C and Motherboard <90°Call the way to 60°C; 65°C and 70°C. (this of course being in load, while playing games)I also see an increase in FPS (about 15-20 FPS more), used to have around 40-45-50 FPS, now it's a very stable 60-61 FPS. (I play a lot of WoT with almost ultra settings at 1080P on a GTX 860 M 4GB RAM Video-card)I assume that the increase in FPS and it being very stable has to do with the fact that there is NO throttle anymore since the temp is now almost as low as it used to be when in idle mode. :)As a minus, i would have to say that when it's at max speed, it's a little noisy, but if you turn the volume up a little and really get in the game, you only hear it when waiting for a re-spawn or something. You could also use headphones. But this could hardly be considered a drawback.ALSO the item arrived with 8 days earlier than advertised! :D WAW again!
