Really good source of fibre
Good product - is exactly what it claims to be and at half the price of some similar products.Glad it was on ‘prime’ so of course it arrived the next day.I’ve been taking for a few days now and already it taking effect. I eat quite a high protein diet to support gym work and exercise and this leads to quite a low fibre intake. Lately I’d suffered with bloating giving me a pot-belly look. This has, how can I put this, “sorted me out” in just a couple of days and with my bloating far reduced I have regained my flat stomach. There’s lots of talk about this helping to reduce visceral fat but I’ve not been taking for long enough to gauge. I suspect if there is any benefit in that area then it will be through long term use.Otherwise the product is tasteless to sweet so adding it to my morning coffee has also helped drop some sugar from my diet. In coffee it mixes absolutely and disappears into the hot drink. Easy to take.

A Definite YES!
Love this powder, love this company! I'm a fan of prebiotics as well as probiotics & products I have bought from this company have always resulted in positive effects. After suffering with gut problems for more than two years I learned a lot through researching as well as some trial & error & now realise the importance of gastric health plus the link between gut & brain. I bought this inulin product for keeping on top of my very precious digestive system with the added benefit of dealing with the dreaded visceral fat which most of us are bound to have. I have only been taking one scoop in water first thing in the morning after drinking my usual half-litre of water, for approx three weeks, & this seems to have kept me 'regular', albeit pretty windy in the mornings for the first two weeks (now calmed down). I also noticed a reduction in my appetite in the afternoons which has meant I have eaten only a very light evening meal. Result? I've dropped half a stone without trying & my skin appears much clearer. I suffer from arthritis so the weight loss is a big plus. I can highly recommend this product & have already just bought another pack. Top class product, great price, great company ;) P.S. Please avoid losing the plot, Mr H, & doubling your price, as some companies have done in the past when they get lots of top reviews!

A supplement for people who don't use supplements
Why use it?:I first heard about inulin on Angela Ripon's TV show about ageing, then on Michael Mosely's show about insomnia, I am not a person who uses supplements, and only take what a doctor tells me to, but I have recently been diagnosed with mild fatty liver and need a lower fat, lower sugar, higher fibre, more exercise regime, and needed to lose around 5 pounds (I've lost 10)Inulin will not directly help much with the fatty liver, but it will help more generally with gut health and core fat. I am mostly using it as reminder of my good intentions. Using Inulin multiple times a day reminds me to eat a raw carrot instead of a biscuit, and skip puddings.I am one of those people that needs to trick themselves into good behaviour by using 'life hacks'. Eating healthily reminds me to use inulin, using inulin reminds me to eat healthily. A screwtop tupperware container of inulin next to the kettle reminds me to use it in every drink. When my wife puts the container in the cupboard, I forget! So, yeah, find your own way of keeping your usage up.How I use it:The recommended amount, depending on where you end up after a Google search, is 10-20 grams a day. I started on 10, but am now on 15.A teaspoon each in four hot drinks a day is 10 grams, two teaspoons in my porridge is another 5 grams, so the little and often approach soon gets you to your target level. You CAN sprinkle it on a plate of food, but it looks weird and puts me off, so I only add it to liquids, or at least semi-liquids such as baked beans (the reduced salt and sugar version, of course). When it is damp it crystallises slightly, like damp sherbet, so it is much better in a drink.Taste and consistency:It has a slightly sweet taste. To give you a sense of how sweet, I'd say it is about 25% of the sweetness of sugar. I used to add half a teaspoon of sugar to my tea - two teaspoons of this tastes about the same. If you have a sweet tooth, then using inulin won't be a chore at all.It mixes in very well and there is no residue. If you plonk a spoonful into a cup of tea you will end up with a lump of it on the spoon which will go after a bit of vigorous stirring. So, instead, sprinkle it in then stir and it fully dissolves almost immediately. There are 11 calories in 5 grams, so my regime adds an irrelevant 22-33 calories a day.Does it work?:My liver won't be checked again for years, so there will be no way of knowing. I am the sort of person that wants immediate and measurable results, so this does bother me a little. However, I am comfortable that at the *absolute* minimum I am adding some fibre to my diet. Anything else is a bonus. And, as already mentioned, using it help me to remember to be good, and vice versa. The pounds have come off easily, due to exercise and sensible eating. I can't credit inulin for that, put it is a part of a regime that has worked very well for me.Brands & Prices:Shop around! My ex-wife uses MyProtein inulin, but it has an allergen warning on the back of the pack for milk, eggs and soya, even though it is pure inulin. This means they can't guarantee a clean manufacturing process which put me off. And they don't say what it is made of - I want 100% ground chicory root, as you can't get more natural than that.My first purchase was Homework Health 500g, and after successfully using it all I wanted a 1kg bag to save money. At the time Homework Health didn't do one so I bought this from Nu U.I find that Homework Health dissolved slightly better than Nu U, but only slightly, and it certainly wouldn't put me off buying Nu U again.Broadly speaking you should be paying around £10 for 500g, and £18 for 1kg. A canny shopper will find deals that beat these prices, and once you are into the habit of using inulin, it will pay to load up on a good deal.Verdict:£18 for eight to twelve weeks supply, is not a trivial cost, but is certainly affordable, especially now I am skipping lattes. It is very easy to use, does not ruin the taste or consistency of food and drink (aside from a little sweetening) and, according to multiple sources (but *not* officially the NHS), is a beneficial supplement. I'll stick with it.I hope this review helps you. Do let me know if you have any questions.

Good product, bad packaging
helps with IBS to certain level but I was hoping for better results and better bowel movement, the packaging is not good and I think the cup should be attached outside not inside, or inside at the top not buried by the powder.

Totally natural and It works!
I use this product for several reasons, to help my digestion, it aids my sleep and has boosted my energy levels. It has also reduced my waistline which is an extra bonus I was not expecting. I sprinkle it on cereals, yogurt, soups or even toast and marmalade (it goes). It tastes very pleasant but is not overpowering. It comes with its own measuring scoop so there is no danger of taking too much either. I have finally found my perfect pre-biotic.
