Great quality Bluetooth adaptor
Fantastic Bluetooth adaptor for my Bose sound dock. Used a cheaper model before and stability of Bluetooth and the sound quality are much better with the Layen BS-1. Also there is no noticeable delay in audio.

Great money saving option
This clever little gadget makes your iPod/iPhone dock bluetooth enabled. I am giving this item 5 stars as it works perfectly and has saved me a lot of money that I would have spent on a new set of speakers with Bluetooth. The seller's customer service is brilliant - I contacted them with a question regarding compatibility with my dock and received an answer within 24 hours. I didn't need it, but it looks like they have a very good returns policy if your dock is not compatible. You just connect the Bluetooth adapter to the power converter, which makes it compatible with older iPod docks, slot it into the dock and switch it on. Search for Bluetooth devices on your phone/computer and connect. You can then play music from your phone or computer and it plays through your dock. You can sit on the other side of the room from the speakers and play music while working on your Bluetooth enabled computer and have greater control over the playlist using a program like iTunes, play any audio from your phone etc. It's a great idea and has saved me a couple of hundred pounds, which is what I would have needed to pay for some Bluetooth speakers of the same quality as the dock I already owned. I am no audio expert, but to me the audio quality is great, and no sound is lost. Would definitely recommend if you already own a dock and are considering upgrading simply for Bluetooth compatibility.

Revived a classic Bose dock with clear wireless audio and no pairing hassle
Setup & Connection Stability: This LAYEN Bluetooth receiver is a fantastic, cost-effective solution for saving an early-generation 12V Bose docking station from obsolescence. The adapter snaps onto the old 30-pin dock connector securely. Pairing with my device was immediate and hassle-free, requiring no complex pin codes. The wireless range is excellent, maintaining a stable audio stream across a standard-sized room without stuttering. Audio Quality: The sound fidelity is remarkably clean, preserving the deep, rich audio performance that Bose docks are known for. There is no noticeable background hiss or digital artifacts during quiet tracks, which is a common issue with cheaper Bluetooth adapters. It pulls power directly from the dock, so no extra charging cables are cluttering the workspace. Pros: Instantly converts legacy 30-pin docks into modern wireless speakers Excellent range with minimal audio latency No external power supply or charging required Cons: Strictly compatible with older 12V voltage docks; will not charge or work on later 5V systems without an additional converter

Great, if it doesn't blow up you SoundDock!
I've been using a Bose SoundLink Mini II for streaming during lockdown and rediscovered the joy of regularly listening to music. Having seen an advert for these Layen Bluetooth devices I thought it would be great to refresh my old Bose SoundDock 1 (Type A) with Bluetooth so I can stream to that too rather than the faff of using an early iPod. I received the BS-1 next day, thanks to Prime, and enthusiastically prepared to install it. The SoundDock was definitely working as I played a song from the iPod before I removed it to make way for the BS-1. Following the Layen instructions I inserted the BS-1 with the SoundDock switched ON. The blue LED on the BS-1 flashed, I held the button and performed the pairing with my iPad with ease. I got a solid Bluetooth connection and everything looked sweet, ready to play some sounds. I spun up Amazon Music and started a track playing but complete SILENCE from the SoundDock. I tried everything, including removing the BS-1 and reverting back to the iPod, which charged fine on the SoundDock, but no sound was to be heard. I emailed Layen and got a fairly curt reply telling me that my SoundDock was faulty and no way could the BS-1 have caused any damage ["Our receivers are only circuit boards, they have no power capacity themselves and do not send any back to the stereo, they only receive the docks power through the pins and run it through the circuit board. It’s not possible for them to do this (we have vast experience - we have sold hundreds of thousands over the past 9 years) "]. Of course not having "power capacity" doesn't prevent the Docks own power being routed back into it in an inappropriate way by the BS-1 so this explanation / excuse is rather disingenuous. After some Googling I surmised that the DSP board in my SoundDock was most likely damaged so I took a punt and bought a replacement PCB off eBay. Having fitted that my SoundDock was working with my iPod again. With great trepidation I decided to try the Layen BS-1 one more time. This time rather than follow the Layen instructions I installed the BS-1 with the SoundDock switched OFF at the mains. This time success! The sound quality seems good and I like that the remote control still works so I can change volume, skip tracks etc. Understandably I have mixed feelings, maybe it was pure coincidence, but there's no need to insert the BS-1 with the SoundDock powered-on so why tell people to do this and take an unnecessary risk. Overall it seems good kit but do be careful during installation.

Excellent little device - and I managed to fix the static issue!
I bought this as I have a Series 1 Bose dock and wanted to run some jukebox software off an old iPad and use this for a party. It was super easy to install and worked straight away - but I had the dreaded static sound which was particularly bad when no music was playing. I did email the manufacturers who were very prompt with replies and did offer some advice and also said I could return it for a full refund - but I am too stubborn for that! So I did some more googling and found one suggesting that the ribbon that goes between the doc section and speaker sometimes comes loose and the bad connection can cause this feedback / static issue.... So I took the bottom off and located the ribbon - its very short and is an absolute pain to reattach but after a while I did manage to do it - put it all back to together - at its working perfectly! So I have to give the device itself 5 stars as the feedback/static issue was obviously within my dock and not with the device. Really happy with it !

Works well with Alexa
I have revived an old Bose Soundock with this fabulous device It’s not very clear how you connect it to work with Amazon Alexa but I eventually worked it out. Firstly connect it to Bluetooth on your iPhone, insert the Layen BS1 into your powered on Bose speaker, the instructions suggest the button on the side should be pressed to put the device into pairing mode but mine didn’t need this step as the blue light was already flashing - waiting to pair. Switch on Bluetooth on your phone then find the Layen in your list of Bluetooth devices and select it. You will now be able to play music from your phone. The Layen BS1 Can’t connect to more than one device at time so it has to be unpaired from Bluetooth on your phone by highlighting it from your list of your Bluetooth devices then selecting “forget this device” Then you can set up Alexa. To use it with your echo device - in my case a semi redundant first generation echo dot, open the Alexa app on your phone. From the home screen access “settings” from the 3 bars in the top left of the screen. (DO NOT USE ADD DEVICE) Scroll down to device settings and select the device you wish to pair with the Layen BS1. Under “wireless”, select “pair a new device. Replace the Layen BS1 onto the Bose speaker so that the blue pairing light flashes quickly. The Alexa app will see the Layen, select it and it will be ready for use. You can voice control your Bose speaker for music and radio etc- fabulous! There is some background hiss when not in use, as reported by other reviewers. To get round this ask Alexa “unpair device” . This reduces this annoying noise to almost inaudible. To quickly reconnect ask Alexa to “pair device” and it does so instantly Hope this helps

Fantastic device, just plug in and play
Like other reviewers, I've been regretting not being able to use my Bose Sounddock with the latest versions of iPhone, iPad, etc. This little device is fantastic and I can't recommend it highly enough. First of all, I was amazed, having ordered it on a Sunday that it arrived less than 24 hours later. By 4pm on Monday I was inserting it into the Sounddock. I'm a typical male, 'stick it in and see what happens before reading instructions' person, but in this case, I thought I'd better read them first, so was delighted to see that the instructions are basically 'stick it in and play'. Very easy to fit into the Bose (you need to remove the oval, plastic cover over the pins inthe Sounddock first), then make sure whatever device you're connecting has Bluetooth enabled, hold in the button on the side of the adapter and with a 'Ping' it's away - first time start and a great sound. Excellent - well worth buying and hearing the superb sound that the Bose makes.

What's not to like?
Bought this after trying another manufacturers unit which didn't work. It probably didn't work because it was for a different Bose unit to mine, which is an early unit. However, the blurb made no mention that a different type might be required. The Layen description on the other hand, went to great lengths to indicate which of their units would be required to work with my Bose unit, which is an early series 1 version. It arrived in a hard shell packet which protected it well during shipping. I installed it in my dock and pressed the switch on the side to get it ready for pairing. Tried to pair it with my iPod (latest 128 Gb version) and zilch. The iPod couldn't see the Layen unit. Thinking I was once more landed with the wrong item, I made a cup of tea, read the instructions again (very small print) and decided to try again. The only difference this time was that I held the small side button in for a longer time. Bingo! The iPod saw the unit and paired immediately. Started up my music library and everything played without a problem. The quality of the sound reproduction was very good and I am so happy that I can now use the Bose unit as a bluetooth speaker rather than just an iPod dock, because I have an Android phone and an Amazon Kindle Fire HD both of which can connect to the Bose system now. Quality unit from a quality company. What's not to like?

Does exactly what they say it will do.
After total failure with some previous options I was so pleased to see this brand and model worked exactly as the makers said it would. Perfectly! Easy to set up and use, great sound and performance. Once again I can make full use of my old Bose Soundock. I’m very happy with this purchase.

Récepteur BT 30 broches (ancienne prise Ipad 1&2) LAYEN
